League of Legends

The last week of the Spring Split regular season is sure to have a lot of excitement. All we know at the moment is that G2 have clinched the No. 1 seed, and Origen, Splyce, and Team Vitality have qualified for the playoffs. The last two playoff spots are up for grabs though. Fnatic, FC Schalke 04, Misfits, and SK Gaming are all gunning for those spots, and that will make Friday and Saturday do-or-die days. Fnatic and FC Schalke 04 have the inside track to those spots, but Misfits and SK Gaming are right there.

League of Legends LEC Europe Spring Split 2019 Week 9 Betting Odds

G2 -260

Misfits Gaming +210

It will be interesting to see which G2 we see this weekend. For the first six weeks of the season, it seemed obvious that G2 were going to win the Spring Split and represent Europe at the Mid-Season Invitational. G2 only lost once in their first 12 games, and they were the most dominant European team we have seen in quite some time.

In recent weeks, G2 have clearly been slacking off though. With the No. 1 seed virtually locked up, they have experimented with new things and haven’t been as polished as we saw earlier in the year. They would be a much bigger favorite if this were the G2 of two weeks ago, but with nothing to play for, we might see something vanilla or wildly different.

FC Schalke 04 -330

Rogue +265

Last Saturday, Schalke finally stopped the bleeding after blowing a 7-2 start in the first round robin of the Spring Split. They lost six straight before beating Misfits last week, but now their playoff hopes are very much alive with a game advantage on both Misfits and SK Gaming, and right now they would win a three-way tiebreaker or a head-to-head tiebreaker with Misfits.

Despite that, I’ll take my chances with Rogue here. There’s a chance that Schalke are locked into the No. 6 seed before this game, and they won’t have anything to play for if that’s the case. Additionally, they were not impressive in their win over Misfits as their opponent made some mind-numbing mistakes and Soaz continually fed in the top lane.

SK Gaming +210

Team Vitality -260

Vitality are my pick to grab the No. 2 seed, and this has a good chance of being the most important match on Sunday. They have been the most well-rounded of the 10-6 teams with the second-best gold differential in the league per Games of Legends. Cabochard might actually be the best top laner in the league, and the team doesn’t have a weak link.

SK have pulled off some upsets this year, but they aren’t consistent enough to go to the playoffs. They are too reliant on Selfmade to create from the jungle, and when that doesn’t happen, they are in trouble.s

Excel Esports +350

Origen -455

The biggest threat to G2 might be Origen. Origen were the first team to beat G2 in mid-February with Nukeduck dominating on Zed, and they don’t want to falter with a first-round bye on the line. They should beat Excel without much difficulty, but this game might not mean much either. If Vitality wins their two games this weekend, they have clinched the No. 2 seed and significantly devalued this game in the process.

Splyce +165

Fnatic -195

Let’s be honest. We all knew that Fnatic would eventually turn it around. Fnatic have won six straight to all but lock up a spot in the playoffs, but they need one win to be sure. There’s a very good chance this game means nothing since this is the last match of the regular season, yet it’s more likely to mean a lot to Fnatic than Splyce and that has influenced this line.
