League of Legends Predictions

The playoff race in the LEC is going to be incredible to watch down the stretch. G2 has already locked up a spot (and the No. 1 seed in all likelihood), and Excel and Rogue aren’t going to make it. However, there are just two games between second place and eighth place in the LEC, and that means two teams are going to be incredibly disappointed and wonder where it all went wrong in a couple weeks. Team Vitality are likely in at 9-5 with games against Excel and Rogue left, but the other four picks are totally up for grabs.

League of Legends LEC Europe Spring Split 2019 Week 8 Betting Odds

G2 -350

Splyce +240

This line doesn’t make sense, unless you think that G2 are going to start to turtle and won’t show too much down the stretch. G2 have been the best team in Europe by far this season. They did lose to SK Gaming in their last match, but that was a case of both overconfidence and a team having a little bit of fun. There were a combined 45 kills in a 33-minute game, and that’s very rarely the sign of a good gameplan.

I fully expect G2 to win this one with the play of Caps in the mid lane and Wunder in the top lane. Humanoid and Vizicsacsi have not been impressive on carry champions and both players can get bullied. Look for G2 to win this one in less than 30 minutes.

FC Schalke 04 -300

Excel Esports +200

Schalke have completely fallen apart after the first round robin. They were in second place at 7-2 after playing every other team in Europe once, but they have dropped five in a row. As good as Upset has been, he has played 13 of 14 games on either Ezreal or Kai’Sa and that has led to other teams coming up with strategies to stop him with his comfort picks in mind.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Excel pulled off the upset here. No one else on Schalke has been able to carry, and unless Upset shows something new, Excel will be able to pick around his champions.

Origen -185

SK Gaming +140

The big story for Origen has been the development of Patrik in the AD Carry role. He was the team’s big question mark coming into the season, and he shined last weekend. He accounted for 11 of Origen’s 17 kills in wins over Splyce and Team Vitality, and he didn’t die on either Sivir or Draven. His skill on two diametrically opposed champions that are strongest at different points of the game was impressive, and this is a team to watch in the playoffs.

SK beat G2 last week, but they also lost to Excel in a poor performance. They continue to show that they are dependent on Selfmade getting ahead in the jungle, and if that doesn’t happen, they don’t win. Origen will do all they can to limit his early game effectiveness and that will lead to a win.

Team Vitality -440

Rogue +275

It’s hard to make a wager on this game until we see the status of Jiizuke. Team Vitality’s mid laner is the heart and soul of his team, and they just aren’t the same with Saken in the lineup. Jiizuke took this last weekend off for medical reasons, and there is no word on whether or not he will return by Friday.
If Jiizuke does play, I think they will have little trouble getting past last place Rogue, but if Saken plays in his stead, Rogue might be worth a play.

Fnatic -185

Misfits +140

That’s a second straight 2-0 week for Fnatic. Just when people started to count out Fnatic, they turned it on, and now this team is looking like it could make serious noise in the playoffs. Nemesis is starting to look more confident in the mid lane, and if he can build off these recent performances, this team could challenge G2 for the title.

They have a long way to go for that to happen, but I think they have the edge on Misfits. Misfits have been continually disappointing this season, and they are the one team to lose to both Rogue and Excel. That’s not a good sign.
