We are now two-thirds of the way through the first LEC Spring Split, and we likely know the fate of three teams. G2 is almost assuredly going to get the No. 1 seed with an 11-1 record and a three-game lead on second-place Team Vitality, while Rogue and Excel Gaming are both probably going to miss out on the playoffs with a 2-10 record at this point. That leaves seven teams jockeying for position with five playoff spots remaining, and no team wants to miss out now. This week’s matches should further separate the field.
League of Legends LEC Europe Spring Split 2019 Week 7 Betting Odds
Origen -125
Splyce +105
Origen have been incredibly streaky this season. After a 1-1 start, they lost three in a row and then won five straight before losing both matches last week. Their inconsistency has been seen in the play of mid laner Nukeduck. Nukeduck has a 2.9 KDA, but he has been very hit or miss. He was incredible on Zed against G2 and gave the current league leaders their only loss, but he failed to get a kill and finished with six deaths and just five assists in matches against Fnatic and Misfits last week.
The first meeting between these two teams ended in a Splyce rout, but a lot of that was due to Alphari taking Irelia into the top lane for Origen. I see him jumping on a tank this time, and that will help Origen get the win.
Excel Esports +190
SK Gaming -235
SK Gaming are turning it on at just the right time. SK have won four of their last five matches, and wins over Team Vitality, Fnatic, and FC Schalke 04 have many believing they are for real. The impact that Selfmade has had from the jungle cannot be overstated, and he has been named MVP in five of their six wins this year.
Crownshot’s growth is the reason I like SK Gaming here though. He was fantastic in their win against Schalke last week, outdueling one of the best AD Carries in the league in Upset. I think he’ll be able to do the same against Excel this week.
Team Vitality -155
Misfits Gaming +125
I like the favorite in the next match on Friday too. Team Vitality has been the second-best team for much of the season, and there are no weak links on this roster. Arguably the team’s best player, Jiizuke, has the worst KDA, and they have received good play from everyone else too.
Look for Cabochard to carry in the top lane here. Soaz has really struggled since coming over from Fnatic to join Misfits, and he has been a liability on anything other than tanks. Cabochard can win a skill match-up and lead Vitality to a win.
G2 -740
Rogue +500
This is a lot of chalk, but it’s hard to go against G2, especially in this situation. Rogue finished the first round robin 0-9, and they have already benched two players to mix things up. If they have any chance of pulling off the upset, it will be through the jungle play of Kikis. His unfettered aggression can throw teams off, but it backfires often too. They are hoping that the dice roll works out in their favor this time.
Fnatic -140
FC Schalke 04 +115
Finally…an underdog that I like. Schalke have lost four of their last five, and most have jumped off the bandwagon. Their only great player has been AD Carry Upset, while everyone else has had their share of difficulties.
Meanwhile, people are believing in Fnatic again after a 2-0 week last week. Nemesis had two excellent games on Zoe, and his 9 KDA in those two wins has some believing that the cautious mid laner has turned a corner.
I need to see more until I’m convinced. I like Schalke as an underdog despite their recent form, and I’ll jump at the opportunity to take them here.
