League of Legends

The six best teams in Europe are looking to prove their mettle and earn the right to travel to southeast Asia for the Mid-Season Invitational by winning the LEC Spring Split Playoffs. G2 and Fnatic are the two favorites as they have combined to win 11 of the 12 European titles since League of Legends was organized into the current regional system, but many will be looking to hop on Origen after a strong regular season that saw them finish second. Let’s look at each team heading into the start of playoffs next week.

League of Legends LEC Europe Spring Split 2019 Playoffs Betting Odds

G2 Esports +100
Fnatic +275
Origen +300
Splyce +1600
Team Vitality +2500
SK Gaming +10000

The Favorite

G2 were the best team in Europe throughout the Spring Split. They raced out to a 12-1 start before shutting it down, and while some think that their 1-4 record over their last five games doesn’t portend well for them, I think it was pretty clear that they were doing a bit of trolling. G2 weren’t playing their usual pragmatic style and were instead pushing early game aggression and looking to scrap as much as possible as soon as possible.

This team has the best player in the region in mid laner Caps, and he is likely to win his lane no matter who he is up against. Perkz has also proven that he can be a pretty solid AD Carry, and they have one of the top junglers in Jankos.

My only real concern is Wunder. While he is solid on tanks, in this top lane carry meta, he has had some real trouble when he tries to go aggressive. Still, it’s hard to see G2 fail to reach the finals given that they avoid both Fnatic and Origen in the semifinals.

The Contenders

Fnatic are the second favorite even though they have to play a first round series and Origen doesn’t. That’s what happens when the most storied organization in the region wins eight straight games to end the season.

Nemesis has looked much more competent in the mid lane, and Broxah has been fantastic with his early game jungling, getting his team ahead often.

However, there is also a lot that concerns me about Fnatic, so I’ll stay away. Bwipo hasn’t looked great on top lane carries, and Rekkles seems to have lost a little bit of his once impeccable form. Additionally, they will be playing SK Gaming in the first round, and they lost bother of their meetings with them this season.

Origen is a team I have a little more faith in. This is a team that finished with six straight wins as Nukeduck rose his play to another level in the mid lane. He is the region’s second-best mid laner behind Caps, and the emergence of Patrik as a competent AD Carry can’t be overstated.

The Usurpers

It’s pretty funny to see Splyce as a 16-1 underdog considering they finished the season with the same record as Fnatic. I don’t think they are likely to win the Spring Playoffs, but there is some value here and Splyce have two solid players in Xerxe and Kobbe.

Vitality as a 25-1 longshot is pretty surprising to me. This is a team that has consistently proven they can play with the best teams in the region, and they have good chemistry together. They can turn any game into a brawl, and given their earlier performance against G2, I think there is some good value in them here.

You have to like the value in SK Gaming too. Although SK Gaming had to win their way into the playoffs through a tiebreaker with FC Schalke 04, they have a phenomenal jungler in Selfmade and Pirean has had some nice moments in the mid lane. Odds of 100-1 are bonkers.
