League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 5 Preview

League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 5 Preview

We have seen some separation in the LCS standings over the last couple weeks. The teams that were the favorites in the preseason have distanced themselves from their counterparts, but Cloud9 remain in a class of their own. C9 are in the process of putting together the best year for any team in North American League of Legends history, and they will look to go undefeated through the first round robin against the only team that defeated them in the regular season in the spring.

League of Legends 2020 LCS Summer Split Week 5 Betting Odds

Friday, July 10

FlyQuest -278

100 Thieves +200

It’s been a rough start to the season for 100 Thieves. After finishing third in the regular season during the Spring Split, they are third from the bottom heading into the halfway point of the Summer Split with a 2-6 record. Their only victories have come against the two teams beneath them in the standings, Dignitas and Immortals, but they aren’t as bad as their record indicates.

Poome showed promise in his first two games as this team’s new support, and Contractz shook off the rust after returning to the LCS for the first time in 2020. While FlyQuest have played well, Ssumday has the potential to smash Solo in the top lane, and that makes the Thieves a tempting upset pick at this price.

Immortals -244

Dignitas +177

If you have a friend that is looking to get into League of Legends, tell them to avoid watching this game. These two teams are the worst in the LCS by a considerable margin, and it would be a huge surprise if either franchise made the playoffs. Dignitas are 0-8 and have made three substitutions already, while Immortals swapped their whole roster prior to the start of Week 3 wit the hope of changing things up.

Immortals have looked better since the roster swap, particularly in the bottom lane, but this is too high of a price for a team that is 1-7. Dignitas actually have a better GDPM than Immortals per Games of Legends, so this is another nice spot for the underdog.

Cloud9 -417

Team SoloMid +275

There will be plenty of hype for this matchup. These two rivals have plenty of history with one another, and TSM are one of the few teams with the talent to potentially upend Cloud9. They have now won four straight games coming into this contest, yet they will be at a major disadvantage in the jungle against the defending LCS champions.

Blaber has been incredible this split. Although he has the fourth-best KDA on his team, he has proven to be the best playmaker in the league. He is constantly roaming and making things happen for Cloud9, and the Spring Split MVP has a massive edge over Spica.

Evil Geniuses -244

Golden Guardians +177

It’s been something of a difficult last month for Evil Geniuses. While they are 5-3 and in great position to make the playoffs, everyone on this team has looked worse than they did at the end of the Spring Split. Jiizuke has a 2.4 KDA, while Svenskeren has had some real issues in the jungle. Meanwhile, Bang continues to have an absurdly low kill percentage for an AD Carry, but Zeyzal has played well.

Golden Guardians haven’t been playing badly despite having one of the least talented rosters in the LCS. They were able to defeat FlyQuest two weeks ago, yet the talent deficiency will be too much to overcome against a team like Evil Geniuses.

Team Liquid -244

Counter Logic Gaming +177

We have seen CLG’s true colors emerge over the last few weeks. While old guard fans were excited about this team’s 3-1 start, it’s clear that they are now a gate keeper as they have lost to all four teams with winning records and defeated all four teams with losing records.

Pobelter has been playing very well in the mid lane for CLG, but he is no match for Jensen of Liquid. Tactical has played very well in the bottom lane alongside CoreJJ, so this is a great time to bet the four-time champions. This is the best play of the week.

FlyQuest -833

Dignitas +452

Seeing FlyQuest as this big of a favorite highlights just how far Dignitas have fallen. However, it’s simply impossible to bet them at this price considering what happened in their first meeting. These two teams were relatively even through the first 27 minutes of the match until a 5-1 team fight swung the game to FlyQuest. That makes this match either a bet on the underdog or a stay away.
