The Call of Duty World League will have their first major tournament since the release of the popular game Black Ops IIII this weekend in Las Vegas. It will be a huge Esports weekend as both COD World League and League of Legends All-Star Weekend are happening in Sin City this weekend, turning the Strip into a gamer’s paradise. Optic Gaming are decent favorites to top a 269-team field that will be whittled down considerably before the pro teams get involved in the latter stages. Let’s take a look at who has the best chance of winning.

2018 Call of Duty COD World League Las Vegas Betting Odds

Optic Gaming: +150

eUnited: +500

100 Thieves: +500

Red Reserve: +600

Reciprocity: +1400

Team Envy: +1400

Luminosity: +1400

FaZe Clan: +1600

G2 Esports: +1600

Evil Geniuses: +2000

Splyce: +2500

Lightning Pandas: +3000

Any Other Team: +1000

Optic are the favorites in this competition for their pedigree and their performance in online events to date. Scump and Crimsix have been two of the best players in the world during the four years they have been a part of the Green Wave, but they did not perform too well in the previous iteration of the game. They failed to crack the top four in any of their past four events, and they did not grab a title during the World War II season.

The organization made some changes in between games and now they have Karma, Dashy, and TJHaly on the roster too. Karma was formerly a member of Optic, so there is already some chemistry there, and both Dashy and TJHaly seem to have integrated well too. They are definitely the team to beat in this new format, and they have the most prestigious fivesome of any team in the world.

Oddsmakers believe that eUnited and 100 Thieves are the two teams that are most likely to stop Optic in their tracks. They have one of the best slayers around in Clayster, and they made another fantastic addition when they signed JKap two months ago. Those two players will make this team a contender in multiple events over the course of the season.

As for 100 Thieves, the team owned by one of Call of Duty’s greatest players is a serious threat to win. Nadeshot is a name that reverberates within the community and his reputation has helped him put together an elite lineup. Kenny, Enable, and Fero were part of the best team in the world for World War II (Team Kaliber), and they also have former Optic player Octane and veteran Slasher in the lineup. There is a ton of talent here, and if Optic don’t claim first place, this is my pick to win.

If you’re looking for a bit of a longshot, Luminosity are a good bet at this price. FormaL is one of the best players in Call of Duty history, and he has some talent around him. Although Gunless is a chemistry concern, there is no doubt that he is unbelievably talented, and he will help make this team better if he can stay focused. Slacked is one of the better glue guys around, so that will help patch up a lot of communication issues. Classic and John are old veterans that have been on the scene for a long time, and I think there’s a good chance this team cracks semifinals.
