DreamHack Masters Spring North America Preview

DreamHack Masters Spring North America Preview

The CS:GO action keeps coming, and we will see the best teams in North America take part in DreamHack Masters Spring: North America next week. Gen. G is riding high after their surprising victory at ESL One: Road to Rio North America, but they aren’t one of the top five favorites entering this event. Instead, Team Liquid are the favorites per the Esports betting odds despite a lackluster performance during the Road to Rio qualifying tournament. We’ll see whether that’s wise or folly in a couple weeks.

DreamHack Masters Spring: North America Betting Odds

Team Liquid +230
Evil Geniuses +400
FURIA +450
100 Thieves +500
MiBR +600
Gen. G +800
Cloud9 +1400
Chaos Esports Club +2500

Liquid are the highest ranked team in North America. They were the best team in CS:GO throughout 2019, winning seven majors and claiming the second Intel Grand Slam, taking home over $2 million in prize money thanks to their strong performances.

They swept Evil Geniuses in the ESL Pro League Season 11 Finals last month, but they did not play well over the last few weeks in the qualifying for ESL One: Rio. Liquid were swept by FURIA and Envy in the Group Stage, and they were swept by FURIA again in the semifinals. Following that performance, they finished in fourth place, as they lost to Cloud9 in the third-place match.

While some might jump at the chance to get Liquid at a bit of a discount, these odds are much too low after what we saw over the last few weeks. Twistzz played very well, but nitr0 was incredibly disappointing with a 0.54 rating in the second game of Liquid’s loss to FURIA.

Evil Geniuses are the second favorite, but they couldn’t even make it out of the Group Stage in the ESL One: Road to Rio qualifying. They took care of business against minnows Triumph and Orgless, but they lost to 100 Thieves, Cloud9, and Gen. G to finish fourth in Group A.

To their credit, all those losses were 2-1, and they had a good chance of beating Gen. G on the last day. That was also their first full tournament under new coach Zews, but it may take some more time for this team to respond to his coaching.

FURIA are a tempting bet at this price. They bested MIBR, Bad News Bears, and Liquid in the Group Stage of ESL One: Road to Rio, and they knocked off Liquid again in the knockout rounds. They fell to Gen. G in the Grand Final, but their performance otherwise was great, and this is great value considering they will be placed in a group with Liquid and MIBR.

Esports Betting Bonus

The Brazilians were incredibly balanced in that event, as they weren’t simply led by one or two players. Everyone played their part, and that’s the kind of performance you are looking for heading into a tournament.

Aside from FURIA, the other two teams to bet are Gen. G and Cloud9. The lack of respect for Gen. G is puzzling. This organization won DreamHack Anaheim over FURIA back in late February, and they beat every team placed in front of them on their way to the ESL One: Road to Rio title. Over the past three months, they have a winning record on every map except Vertigo, so betting on Gen. G at 8-1 is a steal.

There might be even more value in Cloud9 at 14-1. This team doesn’t have the superstars it did in the past, but they just finished in third place. Their other performances this season haven’t been impressive, but that’s why the odds are so lucrative.
