2021 Mid-Season Invitational Semifinals Betting

A new Mid-Season Invitational champion will be crowned in Reykjavik on Sunday. DWG KIA and Royal Never Give Up have been the favorites to win this tournament from the outset, and they are heavily favored in their semifinal matches against the MAD Lions and PSG Talon. However, DWG KIA and Royal Never Give Up have both looked vulnerable at times during MSI, so it’s not a given either team will go through to the final that so many observers are expecting.

Royal Never Give Up -700

PSG Talon +413

Although they are underdogs in this series, PSG Talon know they can beat RNG. Talon knocked off RNG in the first meeting between these teams in the Rumble Stage, and they were even with them at the 30-minute mark in the second meeting. They can skirmish just as well as RNG in the early game, and their ganks and ability to juggle turret aggro have been on point.

Talon don’t have a weakness on this team. There were fears about how Doggo would gel with the roster since he was only added last month, but he has formed a nice bond with Kaiwing and has shown an ability to thrive on Kaisa, Tristana, and Aphelios. Top laner Hanabi was seen as a weak link too, but he has played well without much help from his jungler.

Maple has shown he has a deep champion pool in the mid lane, and River has been a real difference maker. He has shown a proficiency with the three most powerful junglers in this meta (Rumble, Morgana, and Udyr), and his counterpart Wei doesn’t look as strong on those picks.

This RNG roster isn’t as strong as some of the other teams in China. They haven’t adapted to the meta nearly as well as they did others earlier this year, so they are capable of being upset.

Xiaohu has been strong in the top lane, but he can’t take advantage of some of his skills in this meta. Gala hasn’t been great in the bottom lane despite his 6.0 KDA, and Cryin is not as strong in the mid lane with some of his favorite picks like Ryze and Twisted Fate somewhat out of meta.

DWG KIA -953

MAD Lions +506

The 2020 world champions are a massive favorite to advance over Europe’s MAD Lions. DWG KIA have not been the unstoppable juggernaut they were over the second half of last year though. Khan has not been as dominant as Nuguri in the top lane, and he is largely playing tanks like Sion or Gnar. His ability to punish on Gangplank or Jayce hasn’t been as effective, so DAMWON are somewhat limited in what they can do up top.

This bottom lane isn’t great either. Ghost is extremely dependent on Kaisa and has been too overaggressive on the champion at times, and Beryl is misreading situations a little too often. Beryl is still an incredible playmaker at support, but they can lose the 2v2 with Carzzy and Kaiser.

Armut has the potential to get the better of Khan up top too. However, DWG has a huge advantage at the two other positions. ShowMaker is miles better than Humanoid and has repeatedly shown it during MSI, and Canyon is the best jungler in the world.

MAD Lions will need to have a couple pocket picks ready to pull off the upset. DWG has proven slow to adapt to the meta, and that could prove dangerous for the most talented team at MSI.
