2021 LEC Summer Split Week 7 Betting Preview

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 7 Preview

We are entering the penultimate week of the LEC Summer Split. Fnatic and Rogue have clinched playoff spots with 10-3 records, but nothing else has been determined yet.

Although they have lost five straight matches, FC Schalke 04 can still rally and make the playoffs just like they did last summer, as a 5-8 record is currently good enough to grab one of the final playoff spots.

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 7 Betting Odds

Excel Esports -125

FC Schalke 04 Esports -106

Since joining the LEC in 2019, Excel Esports have yet to make it to the postseason. They finished in last and second-to-last place during the 2019 splits, and they finished just outside the playoffs during both 2020 Spring and 2020 Summer. Failing to make it to the postseason in Summer 2021 would probably spell the end for YoungBuck’s coaching tenure with the team.

Schalke is a team that Excel must beat if they want to snap their postseason drought. No one on Schalke has a KDA over 2.4, and jungler Kirei has really struggled to get his team ahead with a 1.5 KDA. This team doesn’t have a lot of draft tendencies though, so it could get tough to prepare for them.

Misfits Gaming -153

Team Vitality +115

We saw Misfits Gaming take care of business in both of their matches last week. They knocked off Excel and Schalke to move to 9-4, and Misfits are now one win away from clinching a playoff spot. Misfits have thrived with Vetheo in the mid lane and Kobbe in the bottom lane, and both Hirit and Razork are doing a ton of damage in their roles.

Meanwhile, Vitality largely play through jungler Selfmade and bottom laner Crownshot. Those are easily the two most talented players on the roster. This team can be predictable though, and that could spell trouble if the league decides to move to Patch 11.15 this week.

MAD Lions -365

Astralis +251

Although their peripherals aren’t good, Astralis continue to win games. They have a great chance to make the playoffs as they are done playing Fnatic, Rogue, G2 Esports, and Misfits Gaming already, and this match with MAD Lions is their last game against a team with a winning record.

MAD Lions have had a few puzzling losses this season. They have lost to three of the four worst teams in the LEC already, so you can’t put it past them to drop this match against Astralis. However, they have an enormous talent advantage over their opponents here and should dominate from start to finish.

SK Gaming +239

G2 Esports -344

It’s clear that once-dominant G2 Esports is a shadow of its former self. There will be some soul searching and roster trimming in the offseason given this team’s mediocre play throughout 2021, as only Rekkles has been consistent. G2 is getting picked off way too often, as no one on the team has a kill percentage in the 70s.

SK Gaming were the worst team in the league coming into last week. However, they responded with a 2-0 week to move ahead of Schalke thanks to wins against MAD Lions and Excel. That week should be a huge motivator to this club, and that could play a major factor against heavily favored G2.

Fnatic +102

Rogue -135

This is the best match of the week. The two best teams in European League of Legends will square off with an eye on the No. 1 seed in the LEC Summer Split Playoffs starting in two weeks. Fnatic got the upper hand on Rogue in Week 1, but the French want the bragging rights this time around.

The key for Fnatic will be shutting down Larssen in the mid lane. We have seen exceptional play out of Larssen, but he can still make mistakes or press too much if his team is struggling. Fnatic can take advantage of that with YamatoCannon thriving after a rough start.
