2021 LEC Summer Split Week 5 Betting Preview

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 5 Preview

We’re now halfway through the LEC Summer Split. There have been a few different surprising developments, but the biggest development to this point is the issues with G2 Esports. The eight-time champions have carried their struggles from spring into the Summer Split, and they have now lost four straight matches. G2 is currently 4-5, and if the season ended today, the biggest team in Europe would miss out on the playoffs entirely.

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 5 Betting Odds

SK Gaming +130

FC Schalke 04 Esports -174

The worst team through the first half of the LEC Summer Split was SK Gaming. SK won just one of its first nine games, and this team is three games out of the playoff race. Jesiz’s decision to relinquish his support role and go back to being a full-time coach has not paid off, but nothing has gone right for the cellar dweller.

FC Schalke 04 Esports has the second-worst record in the league. However, Schalke has had its moments. In addition to beating SK Gaming, the soon-to-be extinct team has knocked off the two most decorated teams in the region in G2 and Fnatic. With Nuclearint improving each week, Schalke are the pick in this match.

MAD Lions -388

Excel Esports +264

Replacing Dan in the jungle with Markoon paid off immensely for Excel Esports in Week 4. Markoon has a 10.0 KDA through two matches, and he helped Excel upset G2 and Team Vitality. Advienne has been sharp in support too, so Excel are certainly a live dog at this price.

Humanoid has been held in check on assassin champions recently with a 3.3 KDA in three games on Akali. Armut has had some issues adapting to the new meta too, making MAD Lions a favorite that can be picked off.

Rogue -190

Misfits Gaming +141

The winner of this game will sit all alone in first place at 8-2. Misfits Gaming have been the most surprising team of the year. Vetheo has played very well in the mid lane, and Kobbe has proved all the naysayers wrong with a 7.9 KDA per Games of Legends. However, one of their two earlier losses this season was to Rogue.

There’s no doubt that the best jungler in the league through the first half of the Summer Split is Inspired. He has a 6.7 KDA and has taken part in 73% of Rogue’s kills. Inspired has delivered on potential game-changers like Kindred and Fiddlesticks, and he will shine again on Friday.

Fnatic -174

Team Vitality +130

Prior to the start of Week 5, Team Vitality has announced that top laner SLT will move to the academy team. Szygenda will replace him in the position, and he has prior experience in this position. A change was needed since SLT has a 1.7 KDA and has only participated in 50.7% of kills per Games of Legends.

Fnatic are a great play at this price. Upset has been one of the top bottom laners in the league, and Bwipo continues to turn heads with his jungle play. As long as ultimate coin flipper Hylissang plays somewhat well, the favorites should get the win.

G2 Esports -326

Astralis +228

Is this a typical G2 summer swoon, or is this the start of something more? G2 is starting to lose the benefit of the doubt as the team continues to have long dry spells. The only player that is routinely playing well is new edition Rekkles, while the veterans of this team keep struggling.

Astralis have continued to play well. Whiteknight is shining on Lee Sin with a 9.3 KDA on the champion, and MagiFelix has been solid in the mid lane. If Lee Sin is available, Astralis might be able to knock off G2.
