2021 LEC Summer Split Week 2 Preview

Who would have thought that the only unbeaten team through the first week of the 2021 LEC Summer Split would be Misfits Gaming? Misfits failed to make the playoffs in the Spring Split with a losing record, but they are 3-0 after Week 1 of the Summer Split. They upset Fnatic and knocked off SK Gaming and Team Vitality, but they are still a sizable underdog to Rogue in their first game per the League of Legends betting odds.

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 2 Betting Odds

FC Schalke 04 -172

SK Gaming +129

Schalke had an especially Schalke start to the Summer Split. They lost to teams at or below their level in Team Vitality and Excel Esports, but they beat G2 Esports. Brokenblade was the hard carry with a 4.6 KDA, while new mid laner Nuclearint really struggled in replacing Abbedagge. He posted a 2.3 KDA and only participated in 34.1% of his team’s kills per Games of Legends.

Although SK Gaming went 0-3 in Week 1, they should have beaten Astralis. Twohoyrz played well in the mid lane while Blue was out for medical reasons, and Jezu fared well in the bottom lane. That makes the underdogs the pick in the first match of Week 2.

Excel Esports +277

MAD Lions -413

The reigning European champions overcame an opening loss to G2 and beat Fnatic and Astralis to start off 2-1. Humanoid was incredible in the mid lane on Akali with a 12.0 KDA on the champion, but Armut didn’t look too sharp in the top lane.

Other teams might be able to exploit this to their advantage since Armut has cooled off following a strong start. However, Excel Esports continue to look lost in big matches. Kryze has failed to make a big impact in the top lane, and it’s hard to see a win condition for the underdogs.

Misfits Gaming +160

Rogue -217

While Misfits Gaming are unbeaten, there is a reason why Rogue is favored in this match. Rogue might have the most talented team in Europe, and Larssen is posting insane damage numbers. He can beat Vetheo in the mid lane, although Misfits’ mid laner currently has an 18.5 KDA.

Hans Sama will not be allowed to play Varus as everyone is seeing the power of the champion, but he can find a pick that punishes Kobbe in the bottom lane. Kobbe is not as strong as his 11.0 KDA might indicate, and Hans Sama will see that that lofty number is taken down a notch.

Team Vitality -102

Fnatic -130

There was a lot of fanfare surround Fnatic adding Adam to be their top laner. The most popular team in Europe moved Bwipo into the jungle to make way for their new acquisition, but the early results weren’t encouraging. Adam had a 2.4 KDA in Week 1, as Fnatic went 1-2.

They figure to bounce back against Team Vitality. Former Fnatic jungler Selfmade is Vitality’s star player, but Fnatic will know how to counter their former teammate. Vitality does not have great laners, so Fnatic should get back to .500.

Astralis +277

G2 Esports -413

What will we see out of G2 this week? The substantial favorites entering 2021 have been very disappointing at times, but they still have a lot of talent and prestige. Rekkles has a 13.0 KDA, and Jankos has played very well in the jungle too.

There isn’t much to like about Astralis’ chances in this match. Although they currently have great KDAs (save former G2 substitute Promisq), everyone expects this to come back down to Earth. Look for G2 to ban away Lee Sin from top laner Whiteknight, and Jeskla might see a target ban or two as well.
