2021 LEC Summer Split Week 1 Betting Preview

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 1 Preview

The other three major regions for League of Legends are already in action, and the LEC will kick off its Summer Split this Friday. All ten teams will play their first match on June 11, and there have been a lot of changes. There is a new meta with new players and there are new analysts too. It will officially kick off with the best team from the Spring Split (MAD Lions) taking on the most successful team in the history of Europe (G2 Esports).

2021 LEC Summer Split Week 1 Odds

G2 Esports -115

MAD Lions -115

It was a disappointing Spring Split for G2 Esports. The odds-on favorites to win the LEC were never really comfortable in the meta. Long-time Fnatic bottom laner Rekkles shined with his new team, but everyone else struggled somewhat and G2 lost twice to MAD Lions in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, MAD Lions reached new heights. They became the first team other than Fnatic or G2 to win the LEC in an eternity, and they nearly knocked off world champions DWG KIA in the semifinals at the Mid-Season Invitational. International experience tends to help teams, so MAD Lions are the play as Armut and Elyoya continue to develop.

Astralis -125

SK Gaming -106

While Astralis are arguably the least talented team in the LEC, they should be more of a favorite here. SK Gaming has spent the last few weeks shuffling its roster, moving support Treatz into the jungle to replace Tynx, and former coach Jesiz will now be the new support. Additionally, mid laner Blue won’t play in Week 1 for health reasons, so Twohoyrz will have to make his first start.

Astralis have stability going for them as they haven’t tinkered with their lineup since February. They started to come along with MagiFelix improving in the mid lane, and WhiteKnight and Zanzarah improved as the split went on too.

Rogue -441

Excel Esports +292

This is the only lopsided line for the first day of the LEC Summer Split. Rogue were the second-best team in the LEC during the Spring Split, while Excel Esports finished in eighth place and changed out Czekolad for Nukeduck in the mid lane and Tore for Denyk in support.

Both those moves are arguably downgrades, but especially the mid lane move. Nukeduck looked washed up with Astralis in the spring, while Czekolad appeared to be a promising talent.

It is a new meta and a new split, but Rogue are generally pretty good at making the initial adjustments.

Team Vitality -141

FC Schalke 04 +106

There are three new players on Vitality and two new faces on Schalke, so this match is a bit of a toss-up. Vitality added top laner SLT, jungler Selfmade, and mid laner LIDER two weeks ago. The addition of Selfmade could make this team much better, and that potential is part of why Vitality is favored.

While Schalke can certainly win this match, it’s interesting that they are going to play Kirei in the jungle instead of Gilius. The bottom lane might be the worst in the LEC, and the loss of Abbedagge hurts tremendously.

Fnatic -135

Misfits Gaming +102

An extremely disappointing Spring Split led to Fnatic making some rather drastic changes this offseason. Bwipo is now in the jungle, and the team hired rising star Adam to be its top laner. Nisqy, Upset, and Hylissang are all back though, giving this team some continuity.

Those questions are part of why Fnatic is only a small favorite against Misfits Gaming. They also lost both of their games to Misfits in the Spring Split, so they have yet to figure out this squad.
