2021 LEC Spring Split Playoffs Round 1

2021 LEC Spring Split Playoffs Round 1

The first weekend of the 2021 LEC Spring Split Playoffs is going to have a lot of action. Fnatic and SK Gaming will face off in an elimination series on Friday before the two Winners’ Bracket series on Saturday and Sunday. Fnatic’s 0-3 performance in the last week of the regular season led to the organization falling into the lower bracket for the playoffs, and they must now avoid an upset in order to avoid a very disappointing finish this season.

2021 LEC Spring Split Playoffs Round 1 Odds

Fnatic -493

SK Gaming +339

Although Fnatic struggled against the top teams all year, they did knock off SK Gaming in both of their regular season meetings. Both victories came in under 30 minutes, and neither game was ever really in doubt.

We have seen pretty uneven play from most of Fnatic this season. Top laner Bwipo is not taking advantage with his counter picks, and pocket picks like Sett, Yone, and Nocturne have all fallen flat. Support Hylissang is extremely aggressive, and while that worked in the past, it has led to disaster a little too often this season, especially if he is not on Rell.

Nisqy has been decent in the mid lane and Selfmade has been above average in the jungle. Upset is Fnatic’s most reliable player in the bottom lane with a 6.1 KDA, but he selected Kai’Sa in eight of this team’s 18 games.

SK Gaming finished the season with five straight losses. They fell to bad teams like Vitality and Astralis when a win could have pushed them into the top four, so the oddsmakers are not optimistic about their chances. Treatz has done a good job at support and Jenax is playing well in the top lane, so this team may be worth a dice roll given the odds.

G2 Esports -918

FC Schalke 04 +535

It’s been a wild season for Schalke. They have been streaky throughout the split. Schalke started the season 5-2, but their playoff hopes were on the ropes after they lost seven straight matches. They responded with four straight wins to return to the postseason, and they snuck into the top four in their last game.

There isn’t an area where Schalke has an advantage over G2 Esports though. Brokenblade is a coin flip top laner known for his inconsistency, and while Gilius is talented, he isn’t as strong as Jankos in the jungle.

G2 are led by Caps in the mid lane and Rekkles in the bottom lane. These are the two most talented players in Europe, and they have been crucial to the team’s success. Rekkles’ addition is the reason that LEC fans are optimistic about the region’s chances in international tournaments this year. They could drop their first series like they did in the 2020 LEC Spring Playoffs, but it’s improbable.

Rogue -385

MAD Lions +299

This is an intriguing game. While Rogue beat MAD Lions in both of their meetings in the regular season, these organizations are more even than you might think. There is a budding rivalry brewing between the two teams looking to challenge G2 and Fnatic for supremacy in Europe.

Rogue are the best team in the league not named G2. Larssen continues to play great in the mid lane, and the addition of Odoamne gave the team a solid tank in the top lane that knows what to do in team fights. Trymbi has done an excellent job at support too, consistently setting things up for Hans Sama.

Armut came on strong in the top lane for MAD Lions by the end of the split. This team has a solid jungler in Elyoya, but Humanoid has not looked as sharp in the mid lane. The bottom lane hasn’t fared that great either this year, so the favorites are the pick this Sunday.
