2021 LCS Summer Split Week 1 Preview

In a relatively quick turnaround, the LCS Summer Split will kick off just two weeks after the Mid-Season Invitational. Every other major region will wait at least another week before starting back up, but North American teams are ready to get back on Summoner’s Rift. North America was clearly the worst of the major regions all through the Spring Split, and that played out at MSI too. Cloud9 was the only team to lose to the OPL representative in the Rumble Stage, and C9 missed out on the semifinals too.

2021 LCS Summer Split Week 1 Betting Odds

Team SoloMid +111

Team Liquid -147

It was a rough start to the Spring Split for both these teams. Team SoloMid looked lost early on without legends Bjergsen and Doublelift, as Spica was the only starter that was retained from last year’s roster. Meanwhile, Liquid brought in two new players in top laner Alphari and jungler Santorin, and it took some time for everything to gel.

Liquid and TSM were two of the best teams in the LCS by the end of the season. We saw Liquid knock off TSM in the semifinals before losing to Cloud9 in the final, and TSM would like to wipe that taste from their mouth. However, Liquid are just too talented, and they are likely to have a better feel for the meta.

Dignitas +115

Evil Geniuses -153

Dignitas was the most surprising team in the Spring Split. They were considered one of the worst teams in the league at the start of the year, but Dardoch and Aphromoo had a lot to prove. The veterans were the two catalysts of this team’s unlikely success.

Top laner FakeGod is the most talented player on the roster, and he can get the better of Impact in the laning phase. Dignitas beat Evil Geniuses both times in the Spring Split, and they have another edge working for them. This will be Kenny’s first game as the new bottom laner for Evil Geniuses.

Cloud9 -953

Golden Guardians +506

Although we don’t normally see odds this high early in the season, Cloud9 deserves to be a massive favorite over Golden Guardians. C9 is one of the juggernauts of the region and won the Spring Split, while Golden Guardians reportedly spend less than any other team.

The Guardians will be playing Solo in the top lane and Chime in support for at least the first few weeks of the Summer Split. Solo has some experience playing on stage at the highest level, but Chime is a full newbie. That will make it very difficult for the Golden Guardians to pull off the upset.

Immortals +182

100 Thieves -251

It was surprising to see 100 Thieves start Ryoma in the mid lane during the Spring Split. He played relatively well for a player making his debut, but it became clear he wasn’t the answer during the playoffs. That led to 100T acquiring Abbedagge from Schalke 04 shortly after the end of the season.

Abbedagge was great in the LEC, and he is the type of aggressive mid laner that 100T needs to shake things up. He can take advantage of Insanity’s aggressive bordering on reckless play in this match.

Counter Logic Gaming -111

FlyQuest -120

Once proud CLG continues to struggle. They put together a band of misfits for the Spring Split, but that move failed to yield results. CLG finished the year with a 5-13 record, and their veteran castoffs didn’t perform too well.

FlyQuest doesn’t have a very talented team, but this roster has more upside. Look for FlyQust to pick up the victory over CLG here.
