One LCS team will grab $150,000 for winning the Lock In Tournament this Sunday. The semifinals will be played on Friday and Saturday with Cloud9 taking on 100 Thieves this Friday and Team Liquid facing Evil Geniuses this Saturday in best-of-five series. The winners of those two series will meet in the finals on Sunday with the winner-take-all cash prize on the line. The chalk held up in the quarterfinals as all of the top ranked teams won their best-of-three series, but will that happen again?
2021 LCS Lock In Semifinals Betting Odds
Cloud9 -183
100 Thieves +142
It’s interesting to see Cloud9 installed as a favorite in this series given what we have seen from them in the Lock In Tournament. While they were one of the favorites entering this event, they have not looked great against top teams. They fell to Evil Geniuses and lost their first game against Team SoloMid before bouncing back to beat TSM 2-1.
Perkz has not been the wrecking ball many were expecting after joining from G2 Esports. He has the worst KDA on the team (2.9 KDA), and he has not looked great on assassin champions. His best performances have come on set-up champions like Galio, and that has raised more than a few eyebrows given his hefty buyout and contract.
Blaber has been great in the jungle (6.8 KDA), while Fudge is living up to his lofty expectations in the top lane. His Camille play has been superb, and he does a great job taking advantage on carry champions.
This is a tough matchup for C9. 100 Thieves have a top laner that can mitigate and even outplay Fudge in Ssumday. Ssumday has looked dominant on Renekton per the stats at Games of Legends, and he won’t get steamrolled in lane like some of Fudge’s counterparts to this point.
Closer has been strong in the jungle too. He has been accurate with his Nidalee spears in some of 100T’s comps, and this team is a more cohesive unit. As long as Damonte can somewhat hold his own against Perkz, 100 Thieves have a great chance of winning this series.
Team Liquid -213
Evil Geniuses +174
The chalk is the way to go in the second semifinal on Saturday. Team Liquid are probably the strongest team in the LCS at this point. Jensen is playing great in the mid lane, and the bottom lane is the best in the region as CoreJJ continues to play at an extremely high level. That has helped Tactical in his development as a top tier AD Carry.
Two new acquisitions are paying off too. Santorin’s visa issues were cleared up, so he is dominating in the jungle. He was superb against his former team FlyQuest in the quarterfinals. Alphari is looking good in the top lane too. He is currently dealing 28.7 percent of his team’s damage per Games of Legends.
Liquid’s success has been even more impressive considering how often they aren’t team fighting. This is a squad built for team fights, but the kill percentages are rather low as opponents try to beat them in the early game.
Evil Geniuses will have a tough time getting past Liquid in a best-of-five series. Veterans Impact and Svenskeren are playing well, but there is a sizable talent gap between these two teams. While Jiizuke is close to the same level as Jensen, there isn’t another position where you can say EG has a better player.
