2019 NEST League of Legends

Some of the best teams in China will square off at the National Electronic Sports Tournament (NEST) in Guiyang this weekend. Eight teams will look to qualify for the 2019 Demacia Cup by getting to the final of this event, but it’s important to keep in mind that this is a sort of toss-up competition. A handful of the top players are unlikely to play, while some teams use this event to integrate new players into the line-up, and other teams use NEST to try new strategies. Regardless, this will be a pretty fun tournament.

2019 Nest League of Legends Betting Odds

Team WE -125
Bilibili Gaming +100

During the LPL Spring Split, Team WE started off 1-3, but they managed to rally and finish 10-5 by the end of the season. That was enough to earn them the No. 5 seed, yet they were one and done in the playoffs as Cinderella JD Gaming started its miracle run against Team WE. Top laner Poss is the concern coming into this game. He surprisingly started over 957 throughout the Spring, but Poss only really played tank champions and that’s a concern in this meta.

Bilibili Gaming’s top lane Korean import ADD mostly played tank champions too, so I don’t think they will be able to take advantage of Team WE there. Additionally, Team WE won the regular season meeting between these two sides 2-1, so I’ll go with them to get the win here.

Invictus Gaming -220
JD Gaming +170

It will be very interesting to see how Invictus responds after one of the most stunning defeats ever suffered on an international stage. Invictus looked unbeatable at the Mid-Season Invitational, posting the best record ever seen in the Group Stage with a 9-1 mark, and they were heavy -3000 favorites against Team Liquid in the semifinals.

Somehow Invictus did the unthinkable and ended up losing to Liquid last week. After that defeat, it will be interesting to see how this team performs and whether or not they play their usual lineup. The LPL Summer Split is in two weeks’ time, so stars like TheShy might decide to take a break.

With that in mind, I like JD Gaming to pull off the upset here. JD Gaming still have a salty taste in their mouths after being swept by Invictus in the Spring Split Grand Final, and they will want to prove themselves here. If TheShy does indeed sit out, that’s great news for JD as top laner Zoom should be able to have his run of the top lane against Duke.

Edward Gaming -325
Topsports Gaming +235

I love Topsports at this price. Edward Gaming just parted ways with Haro, leaving Clearlove as the lone jungler on the roster, and the beloved veteran is very hit or miss at this stage in his career. He only looked comfortable on Jarvan and Xin Zhao during his time with the team, and that’s something Topsports can potentially exploit.

Topsports was the third-best team in the LPL during the Spring Split, and they have a solid bottom lane in Loken and Ben. Knight9 looked excellent in the mid lane during the regular season, so if 369 plays well in the top lane, Topsports can pull off the upset.

Sinodragon Gaming -230
Suning Gaming +155

The big story ahead of this meeting is that Suning Gaming no longer has its starting top laner. XiaoAL signed with Royal Never Give Up earlier in the week, so he will not be taking part in NEST. That means Biubiu will be the team’s top laner, and he was largely unimpressive in four regular season games. Per tracking website Games of Legends, he did less than 20 percent of his team’s damage in those games, and that’s not very promising.

I think Suning could be one of the surprise teams of the Summer Split with stars like Maple, Smlz, and SwordArt, but this is far too quick of a turnaround after losing a starter. Look for Sinodragon to win easily, especially because this is a meta where aggression in the top lane is favored.
