2019 CS:GO ESL One New York Betting Preview

Eight of the best CS:GO teams in the world will square off in the Big Apple in two weeks for a $200,000 prize pool. Although ESL One New York doesn’t have a $1,000,000 prize pool like other premier tournaments, it is still considered an S-Tier event, so the two best teams in the world will be there along with other contenders looking to make a name for themselves. The battle between Astralis and Team Liquid has raged all year, and one of these two powerhouses will look to add another tally to their impressive win total in 2019.

2019 CS:GO ESL One New York Betting Odds

Team Liquid +173

Astralis +175

Ence +674

FaZe Clan +861

NRG +908

G2 Esports +1195

OpTic Gaming +3946

eUnited +3965

HLTV currently ranks Team Liquid ahead of Astralis, and the oddsmakers agree…though not by much. Liquid are a slight favorite on American soil per the CS:GO betting odds, and the American organization would love to get a huge win here. They have been in great form since May, winning IEM Sydney XIV over Fnatic and following that up with a DreamHack Masters Dallas win over ENCE in early June. Liquid won the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals over G2, and they became the second team to claim the $1 million grand prize for the Intel Grand Slam after topping Team Vitality at ESL One Cologne.

NAF, Twistzz, and EliGE are the top three players on Liquid, and long-time captain nitr0 is a fantastic shotcaller. The decision to bring in Stewie2K to round out the team proved to be wise too, as he has become the glue to everything after taking some time to find his role.

Astralis might be behind Liquid in terms of the rankings and the CS:GO betting odds, but this is the best team in the world. They are the most decorated CS:GO team in history by a landslide, and they had the best campaign ever for any team in 2018.

The Danish organization has been together for a while now, and the staying power of Astralis has been remarkable. Dev1ce is one of the greatest players in the history of CS:GO, and he is flanked by other incredibly gifted players that let him shine. Astralis are always a favorite to win an event, and this is my pick among the two powerhouses.

ENCE have yet to win an S-Tier tournament this year, but they did finish runner-up to Astralis once and Liquid twice at S-Tier events. They were in strong form during the middle of the season, but the Finnish organization started to struggle two months ago, and they recently made a change. ENCE replaced Aleksib with Sunny in late August, so this team is still a work in progress.

FaZe Clan are rumored to be making some changes too. Reportedly, Aleksib might be set to join FaZe, and he could be joined by another well-known name in Coldzera. If this were to happen, NEO and GuardiaN would likely be the two players to leave since they weren’t scrimmaging with the team this week. With ESL One New York just two weeks away, keep an eye on this situation.

If you’re going to take someone other than one of the favorites, go with NRG. Although this team has yet to win an S-Tier competition, they have been close, and there are signs they might be ready to break through. Cerq has proven he can carry at the age of 19, and Brehze has been superb this season. They beat both Liquid and Astralis at StarLadder Berlin before eventually losing to Astralis in the knockout rounds last week.
