There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this bout, but Yordenis Ugas is likely to be favored when they are released. Ugas has won 10 of his last 11 bouts coming into this fight, and he has a title shot under his belt too. For those that are just starting to understand betting on boxing, if Ugas is a -200 favorite, that means you would have to wager $200 on him to win $200. That would make Abel Ramos around a +160 underdog, so a $100 wager on him would lead to a $160 profit.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Yordenis Ugas vs Abel Ramos Preview

Former amateur world champion Yordenis Ugas is another in a long line of talented Cuban boxers. Ugas was the 2005 amateur lightweight world champion, but he could only win bronze at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Not long after that showing is when he turned pro, and it didn’t take long for Ugas to find success in the states.

Ugas won his first 11 fights prior to suffering the taste of defeat. He lost a tough split decision to Johnny Garcia in March 2012, and his second defeat was also a split decision loss with the WBC Latino super lightweight title on the line. A unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Amir Imam in his next bout led some to wonder whether Ugas had peaked, but he silenced the critics with eight straight wins, including an impressive win over Thomas Dulorme.

That led to a shot at the WBC welterweight belt against Shawn Porter, but Ugas once again lost a narrow split decision to pick up his fourth defeat. Of his four defeats, all have come by decision, and three have been by split decision.

Ramos won his first eight fights before having to settle for a draw against unbeaten Maurice Hooker. At that time, no one knew Hooker would go on to become the light welterweight champion, but that result has looked much better as the years have progressed.

A win over Roberto Ramirez was a catalyst for his career and led to a minor title fight against Regis Prograis. Prograis won the fight to deal Ramos his first loss, but Ramos responded with a TKO of undefeated Dario Ferman six months later. That led to another title fight against Ivan Baranchyk, but a unanimous decision loss put him on the backburner for a while.

To reach this level once more, Ramos had to beat up on some tomato cans south of the border two years ago. Eventually he came back to the US and successive victories over Francisco Santana, Jimmy Williams, and Bryant Perrella over the last 18 months has led to this title fight.
