The war of the words between the camps of Terri Harper and Natasha Jonas is heating up ahead of their fight next week. Jonas’ trainer Joe Gallagher shared a rumor that Harper had been knocked out by a sparring partner in training, and he expressed concern about the champion’s focus going into this match. Harper’s trainer Stefy Bell responded by questioning whether Jonas had the stamina to go the distance, dismissing claims that his fighter had been knocked out. That will likely lead to a tense weigh-in prior to the bout between Harper (10-0 with five knockouts) and Jonas (9-1 with seven knockouts) on Friday.

Her quick knockouts of Bec Connolly and Feriche Mashauri earned her a bout with Nina Bradley for the WBC International lightweight belt in March 2019, and she won that fight by TKO to claim her first belt.
A knockout of Claudia Andrea Lopez two months later led to her first major title fight. Harper took on Nozipho Bell for the vacant IBO super featherweight belt, and she won that strap with an eight-round TKO of Bell. She defended her newly won title less than four months later with a unanimous decision victory over Viviane Obenauf, and then she added a second belt to her waist with her victory over Eva Wahlstrom in Sheffield back in February.
Jonas was a latecomer to the sport. She won a bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 2012 World Championships at Qinhuangdao at the age of 27, and she didn’t take her first professional fight until she was 33 years old. She made up for lost time by making quick work of her first four opponents though, knocking them out within the first four rounds.
A victory over Karina Kopinska led to a WBA International super featherweight title shot, and she took advantage with a seventh round TKO of Taoussy L’Hadji. However, she was floored by Obenauf four months later, losing the belt. Jonas clawed her way back to the top with wins over Mashauri and Connolly, but it’s hard to be optimistic about her chances given how she has looked against the same opponents as Harper.
