Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa Boxing Betting

A lot of the shine has come off Teofimo Lopez’s star after his surprising loss to George Kambosos Jr. back in November. Lopez was a massive favorite, up to -4000 by the boxing betting odds at some sportsbooks, but he lost a split decision and relinquished the IBF, The Ring, WBA, and WBO lightweight championship belts. There was no rematch clause in the contract, so Lopez will now be moving up to super lightweight in order to face Pedro Campa in mid-August.

Teofimo Lopez will make his super lightweight debut on Saturday, August 13, 2022, when he faces 34-1-1 Pedro Campa at Resorts World Las Vegas off the Las Vegas Strip. This fight will be broadcast on ESPN with the card starting at 10 p.m. ET, and the main event is expected to get underway about 90 minutes later.

When: Saturday, August 13, 2022

Where: Resorts World Las Vegas, Winchester, Nevada

Why: Super lightweight fight

Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa Betting Odds

Teofimo Lopez -3250

Pedro Campa +1079

Although Teofimo Lopez lost as a huge favorite by the boxing betting odds to Kambosos in his last fight, he is still a heavy favorite going into this bout. At this price, you would need to bet $3250 on Lopez in order to receive a $100 profit. Meanwhile, a $100 bet on Campa would return a cool $1079 if he were to get the win.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa Preview

There was a lot of buzz surrounding Teofimo Lopez before his loss to Kambosos. Lopez was a talented amateur, but he showcased that he was the real deal early on as a professional fighter. He signed with Top Rank immediately after his amateur career ended, and he made his debut on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao fight. Lopez scored quick knockouts against four of his first five opponents, and he was 9-0 headed into his showdown with William Silva for the WBC Continental Americas lightweight title.

Lopez knocked out Silva in the sixth round to take the title, and then he scored a stunning first-round knockout of Mason Menard in his next title fight. His knockout victory over Diego Magdaleno was pretty impressive too, and he took on two more opponents before he faced Richard Commey for the IBF lightweight title. Lopez knocked out Commey in the second round to take the belt, setting up a battle with Vasiliy Lomachenko for the title of undisputed lightweight champion.

Lomachenko was a heavy favorite coming into the fight as a two-time gold medalist at the Summer Olympics in two separate weight classes. However, Lopez proved that Lomachenko was not quite the champion everyone expected, punishing him throughout the bout on his way to winning a unanimous decision. Unfortunately, it was Lopez’s turn to disappoint in his last fight, and he was unable to beat Kambosos after being knocked down in the first round.

Pedro Campa is a pretty solid first opponent for Lopez to line up. Campa is 34-1-1 with 23 knockouts, and he defeated 22-0 Carlos Sanchez Valadez in his last bout. This is the first major fight for Campa though, as he has mainly boxed in smaller venues in Mexico during his career.

While Campa has not taken on anyone of Lopez’s caliber in the past, it’s kind of silly for Lopez to be this much of a favorite given how he looked in his last fight. Additionally, he is moving up a division, and that can be tricky for fighters. Campa has the height advantage and the reach edge, so he is definitely worth a flyer at over 10-1.
