Mario Barrios vs Gervonta Davis Betting Odds

Mario Barrios +328

Gervonta Davis -460

The oddsmakers aren’t too worried about Davis being at a disadvantage since he is moving up two weight classes. Davis is a -460 favorite by the boxing betting line, and that means you would need to wager $460 on him to potentially win $100. If you’re looking to back the champion Barrios, a $100 wager would return $328 in the event he defends his belt successfully.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Mario Barrios vs Gervonta Davis Preview

He might be the underdog, but Mario Barrios certainly isn’t thinking that way ahead of this fight. Barrios told the media that he thinks Gervonta Davis and his camp may “…have bitten off more than they could chew with this fight.”

Barrios turned pro less than eight years ago. He went 21-0 before he earned his first title fight, and he earned an eighth round TKO win over Jose Roman in July 2018 with the WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title on the line. He has found more success since dropping down a class to super lightweight though.

The current WBA super lightweight champion won his belt in September 2019. Barrios took on Batyr Akhmedov for the strap, and he secured a unanimous decision victory to claim the title. He defended his belt against Ryan Karl on Halloween last year, and he picked up a sixth round TKO.

Gervonta Davis was a decorated amateur boxer, winning the 2012 Golden Gloves as a bantamweight. He became a professional fighter in February 2013, and he made a name for himself as a knockout specialist. His only non-knockout came in his ninth fight when German Meraz lasted all six rounds with Davis and lost a unanimous decision.

Davis was 16-0 coming into his first title fight. He faced Jose Pedraza for the IBF super featherweight title in January 2017, and he won by seventh round TKO. He went on to defend the belt against Liam Walsh, but he lost the belt after missing weight for his fight with Francisco Fonseca. Davis still managed to earn an eighth round knockout though.

We saw Davis defeat Jesus Cuellar by third round TKO for the WBA super featherweight title in April 2018. He defended the belt with early TKOs of Hugo Ruiz and Ricardo Nunez before challenging Yuriorkis Gamboa for the WBA lightweight title. Gamboa nearly survived the entire bout, but he ended up suffering a TKO loss in the 12th round.

Davis gave us his best performance yet last Halloween. He faced Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA lightweight and WBA super featherweight titles, and he knocked Santa Cruz out cold in the sixth round with a devastating left uppercut. He has a lot more power than you would expect for a smaller fighter.
