A battle of unbeaten fighters will headline the boxing action on Showtime on Friday, July 23, as Kalvin Henderson takes on Isaiah Steen. Henderson comes into this fight at 14-0-1, while Steen is 15-0. Henderson turned pro in 2016 and won his first 12 pro fights before fighting to a draw against Genc Pllana in 2019. Steen also turned pro in 2016 and he has won all 15 of his fights. These two have combined for 22 knockouts, so this fight should have some serious action. Let’s look at Henderson vs. Steen and boxing picks.

Kalvin Henderson vs. Isaiah Steen Preview

This fight was first scheduled to be on Showtime last October, but Henderson had to withdraw due to illness. The two are now set to fight on Friday, July 23 in Nebraska on Showtime. Henderson had a good amateur career, winning the Arkansas state championship six times. He turned pro in 2016 and has yet to lose. He has fought at this venue in the past, as he knocked out Justin Baesman at the Heartland Events Center in March. “Two undefeated guys coming in on the main event,” said Henderson to the media, “I know he has a good amateur pedigree and he throws good combinations. He is bringing it and I am bringing it. The third time’s a charm to finally make this fight happen. This is the next step in my career. A lot of fighters have been on ShoBox and have gone on to amazing careers, and now it’s my turn to do the same.”

Steen also had a good amateur career, going 85-15. He has won all of his 15 fights as a pro, including a first round TKO against Kenneth Council in February and a fifth-win TKO against Juan De Angel back in November. “I have been going from training camp to training camp,” Steen said to the media, “I am going to mix it up, and out box him with a lot of jabs. Then when I see his weakness, I am going to get him out. Kalvin is a come-straight-forward fighter and he punches hard. I was supposed to fight him before, so this fight has been brewing for a while.”

One thing we can count on with this fight is that it will be action-packed. These two have combined for 22 knockouts and that means each fighter has the power to end this one quickly. There is really no edge in terms of experience but I do think Steen has fought a little bit better competition. Oftentimes with fights like this on Showtime we don’t really know which fighter is better because both have faced lesser competition. That is the case with this fight, as well, so instead of picking one fighter to win, you might be better off playing the rounds. It doesn’t appear that either of these two is going to show a lot of caution, as they should go right at one another. The price on the rounds could also be attractive, as it could be plus money on the rounds going under the total.
