There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this fight, but Zepeda is expected to be a slight favorite. He is the more technical boxer of the two, while Baranchyk is more of a power puncher. If you’re unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Zepeda is -150, that means you need to bet $150 on him to win $100. Baranchyk would be +120 at that price point, and a $100 wager on him would return $120 if he were to pull off the slight upset.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Jose Zepeda vs Ivan Baranchyk Preview

Zepeda is 32-2-2 as a professional fighter. He has recorded 25 knockouts over his decade-plus career after getting started on Christmas Day in 2009. Both of his losses have been in title fights, so he is right at the precipice of getting over the hump.

He was 23-0 before he received his first title shot. Zepeda took on Terry Flanagan in England for the WBO lightweight title, but the bout did not go the way he was hoping. He injured his shoulder in the second round, forcing him to retire at the end of the round. His return to the ring lasted even less time, as Jose Alfaro opened up a cut on Zepeda through an accidental head clash, forcing the referees to call the fight a no contest in the first round.

After that result, Zepeda was back to his winning ways. He won seven consecutive fights before receiving another title fight in February of last year. Zepeda took on Jose Ramirez for the WBC light welterweight title, and he lost that bout by a majority decision. The third time might be the charm, but Zepeda has to get past Baranchyk first.

Baranchyk is 20-1 with 13 knockouts coming into this fight. He won a string of minor titles between 2016 and 2017 that showcased his potential greatness, leading to him taking part in the World Boxing Super Series.

In his first bout, he dispatched of Anthony Yigit to win the IBF light welterweight title. He repeatedly hammered Yigit above his left eye, causing a massive hematoma to form that completely obstructed his opponent’s vision. That led to Baranchyk taking on Josh Taylor in his next bout.

Baranchyk couldn’t get past Taylor, losing a unanimous decision. He was knocked to the mat twice in the bout, losing his recently won title in the process. Baranchyk recovered with a fourth-round TKO of Gabriel Bracero last October, but he wants to reclaim the strap.
