Jesse Rodriguez Franco vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Boxing Betting

Two-time WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will look to hold the title for a third time when he squares off against Jesse Rodriguez Franco in San Antonio on Saturday night. Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1 with 43 knockouts) will be fighting in the United States for the first time in over three years, and he won’t have the crowd at his back against Rodriguez (15-0 with 10 knockouts). Rodriguez hails from San Antonio, so the fans in attendance will be rooting for the hometown kid to successfully defend his title for the first time.

Sor Rungvisai and Rodriguez were originally supposed to face off on February 5, 2022, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Unfortunately, Sor Rungvisai had to pull out of the fight less than a week before the bout due to an illness. They will now face off on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas on DAZN.

Jesse Rodriguez Franco vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Betting Odds

There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this fight. However, many believe that Sor Rungvisai will be installed as the favorite due to his experience. If you are unfamiliar with betting on boxing, you would need to bet $200 to win $100 on the favorite if he is a -200 favorite. Meanwhile, a +160 underdog means that a $100 bet on the underdog would return a $160 profit if he were to get the win.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Jesse Rodriguez Franco vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Preview

The first time Srisaket Sor Rungvisai won the WBC super flyweight belt was on May 3, 2013. Sor Rungvisai scored an eighth-round TKO of Yota Sato in his native Thailand to claim the title, and he successfully defended the belt against Hirofumi Mukai. However, he lost the belt on a technical decision after Cuadras was cut from an accidental head clash.

That’s an unfortunate way to lose a belt, but it took Sor Rungvisai three years to receive another title opportunity. He once again made the most of it with a majority decision over Roman Gonzalez and then knocked out Gonzalez in the fourth round in the rematch. Sor Rungvisai won a majority decision over Juan Francisco Estrada to retain the belt and add The Ring super flyweight title, and he defended both belts in Thailand against Iran Diaz. Unfortunately, he lost the titles in a rematch with Estrada as Estrada won a unanimous decision.

Jesse Rodriguez Franco is not nearly as experienced as his opponent. Bam Rodriguez is just 22 years old, and this is only his 16th professional fight. Rodriguez turned pro at the age of 17 south of the border in Mexico, and he has been pretty impressive to this point of his career.

His showdown against Carlos Cuadras in February was his first 12-round fight though. Rodriguez was impressive in winning a unanimous decision over Cuadras, but his opponent had just five days’ notice before this fight. This figures to be his toughest test yet provided Sor Rungvisai is in good shape.

The tale of the tape gives the edge to Rodriguez. He is an inch taller than his opponent, and his reach is four inches longer. That gives the champion a big advantage as reach matters a lot more in the smaller weight classes.
