James Tennyson vs Gavin Gwynne Preview
Since turning pro nearly seven years ago, Tennyson has had his fair share of success. He is known for his power in the lightweight division, and his last ten bouts have all ended failed to go to the cards with only one of those fights going longer than six rounds.
Tennyson’s first title shot came in April 2016 when he faced Ryan Walsh. He was 16-1 ahead of that fight, but he couldn’t get past Walsh and lost by fifth-round TKO. That defeat spurred him to bigger and better things, and he claimed four different regional belts within his next six fights, leading to an IBF super featherweight title clash with Tevin Farmer. Farmer also won by fifth-round TKO, yet Tennyson has won four straight bouts since that defeat.
We saw Tennyson make short work of three straight boxers, knocking them all out in the second round, prior to his fight with Craig Evans in November. Evans tested Tennyson by lasting 11 rounds, but Tennyson earned the victory and another title shot.
Gavin Gwynne doesn’t have anything near the power of Tennyson. His only two knockouts came against a boxer that was making his debut and another that was 4-10 lifetime, so he will have to win by decision.
Gwynne’s track record is largely unimpressive. He is 12-1, but he has only faced two legitimate opponents in his career. He defeated the previously unbeaten Myron Mills by unanimous decision two years ago, and he parlayed that victory into a shot at the Commonwealth lightweight title against Joe Cordina. Unfortunately for Gwynne, Cordina proved to be too much to handle, and he won the bout by unanimous decision. Cordina claimed that his sparring partners were better than Gwynne, but the Welshman will be out to prove him wrong on Saturday.
Total Rounds Betting
The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Total betting rounds odds will be available soon so be sure to check back. Total betting rounds odds is a wager on how long the fight will last. Let’s say if the total rounds betting line is Over 11.5 Rounds -200, that means that if you think the fight is going to go all 12 rounds, for you to win your bet you would need to bet $200 to win $100. Conversely, if you wager Under 11.5 Rounds +150, you would need to risk $100 to win $150. As long as the fight did not go past the 11th round, you would win the under.
