Jamal James 26-1 with 12 knockouts will take on Thomas Dulorme 25-3-1 with 16 knockouts in the headline fight of Premier Boxing Champions’ first card since March. This fight was originally slated to take place in April before being moved back to July 25 as a result of the coronavirus. Jamal James vs Thomas Dulorme Preview
James has been a professional boxer for a little over a decade, and he has amassed an excellent record. He was untested in his first four fights, winning each of those bouts by knockout in the first or second round, and he proved he could go the distance with consecutive fights against Hector Orozco that went to the cards.
His lone loss as a pro came back in August 2016 when he lost a unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugas. James was 20-0 prior to the setback, but he didn’t let the defeat affect him too much. He had taken the fight on short notice, less than a month after beating Wale Omotoso in a split decision, and he got back to his winning ways after some much needed time outside the ring.
Over his last six fights, James has only been tested one time. That came in April 2018 when he won a majority decision over Abel Ramos, and he has reemerged as one of the top welterweights in the division.
Dulorme showcased his talents in Puerto Rico early in his career, knocking out all seven of the opponents he faced on the island. That led to the Saint Martin native heading to the United States to further his career, and he claimed the NABA USA welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over DeMarcus Corley in June 2011. Dulorme defended that title and then added another when he knocked out Aris Ambriz in the first round for the NABF welterweight strap in February 2012.
That put Dulorme on the fast track, but his climb up the ladder was derailed when he suffered a seventh-round TKO defeat to Luis Carlos Abregu in October 2012. He responded with six straight victories to earn a shot at Terence Crawford, but the three-division champion had no trouble with Dulorme, finishing the fight in six rounds.
In August 2017, Dulorme lost a unanimous decision to Ugas, and he had to settle for a draw against Jessie Vargas in his next bout. He did bounce back with a victory over Terrel Williams last September, but his recent performances will make him the underdog here.
