This is expected to be a very evenly contested fight, and Baranchyk is only a slight favorite per the boxing betting odds. To those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, a $140 bet on Baranchyk would return $100 if he were to win the fight given these odds. A Zepeda win wouldn’t raise any eyebrows though, so a $100 wager on the underdog would only return $120.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Ivan Baranchyk vs Jose Zepeda Preview

Baranchyk hasn’t been a professional boxer for long, but he can already claim to be a world champion. He turned pro a little more than six years ago in his native Belarus, and he easily claimed the Belarusian welterweight belt in his third fight.

That precipitated a move to the United States, and he knocked out six of his first nine opponents in the first round after crossing the pond. The last victory in that stretch moved Baranchyk’s record to 12-0 and earned him the WBC-USNBC light welterweight title. Later in the year, he beat Zhimin Wang for the USBA light welterweight title, and he defended that title a short time later against Abel Ramos.

He brought an 18-0 record into the World Boxing Super Series in October 2018, and he won the IBF light welterweight title in the seventh round against Anthony Yigit. However, he lost the title in his next bout as he was defeated by unanimous decision against Josh Taylor. Baranchyk made short work of Gabriel Bracero in October to get back on the right track before this fight.

Zepeda began his career outside the United States too, knocking out his first four opponents in the first round south of the border. His domination continued for years as he ran his record to 22-0 fighting in the US and Mexico, and that led to Zepeda earning a title shot against Terry Flanagan in July 2015. Unfortunately for Zepeda, he couldn’t make it out of the second round in the WBO lightweight title fight.

After the defeat, Zepeda won seven straight fights and claimed the WBA Inter-Continental lightweight title and the WBO International light welterweight title before challenging Jose Ramirez for the WBC light welterweight strap in February 2019. He put up a much better fight this time around, going the full 12 rounds, and it was close on the judges’ cards. However, Ramirez won a majority decision to make Zepeda 0-2 in title fights.
