Hiroto Kyoguchi vs. Esteban Bermudez Preview
Hiroto Kyoguchi is 28 years old and he holds the WBA Super and The Ring light flyweight titles. He is unbeaten in his career at 15-0 with 10 knockouts. He is coming off a 5th round TKO against Axel Aragon Vega in March of last year. He won a unanimous decision against Tetsuya Hisada in October of 2019, won a unanimous decision against Satanmuanglek CP Freshmart in June of 2019, won by 10th round TKO against Hekkie Budler in December of 2018 and won by 4th round TKO against Tibo Monabesa in September of 2018.
“It was always my dream to fight in Mexico because the Mexican style has influenced me a lot,” said Kyoguchi to the media, “It is a great opportunity to show my boxing in that country against a rival like Esteban Bermudez. Regarding the unification fight, I think it is my mission as absolute champion.”
Bermudez is 14-3-2 with 10 knockouts. He is 26 years old and holds the WBA Regular light flyweight title. He won that title with a 6th round TKO against Carlos Canizales in May of last year. Bermudez fought to a draw against Luis Manuel Macias in March of last year, won by 3rd round TKO against Javier Marquez Clemente, lost a unanimous decision to Rosendo Hugo Guarneros in October of 2020 and won by 4th round knockout against Oswaldo Novoa in October of 2019.
“He is a very good champion but kind of weak because too many injuries – I’ve been waiting a year for him to fight me!” said Bermudez to the media, “I live from boxing, and I’ve needed this fight to happen for a long time. I’ve been at training camp for this fight, and he is coming to my home town, the title is going to still here.”
Boxing Picks
I am definitely not sold on Bermudez. He won the title in a major upset against Canizales but it should be noted that Canizales had not fought in about two years. Bermudez is going to have to show me that his win against Canizales was more than a fluke. Kyoguchi has never lost in his career and he comes into this fight with a better overall resume. I will look for Kyoguchi to get this win.
