Gilberto Ramirez vs Gabriel Rosado Boxing Odds

Gilberto Ramirez vs Gabriel Rosado Boxing Betting

Mexico and Puerto Rico each have rich boxing histories, and there is a healthy rivalry between fighters from the country and the commonwealth. That will be one of the main storylines ahead of this mid-March card headlined by Gilberto Ramirez and Gabriel Rosado. Ramirez (44-1 with 30 knockouts) and Rosado (26-16-1-1 with 15 knockouts) are former sparring partners, but Ramirez is a massive favorite by the boxing betting odds due to his record. Rosado has lost three straight fights, so it’s hard to imagine him winning this one.

Gilberto Ramirez and Gabriel Rosado are very familiar with one another, and we will see them square off from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on Saturday, March 18, 2023. DAZN will be the home of this fight card with the action starting at 8 p.m. ET. The main event is expected to take place around midnight on the East Coast.

When: Saturday, March 18, 2023

Where: Walter Pyramid, Long Beach, California

Why: Light heavyweight fight

Gilberto Ramirez vs Gabriel Rosado Betting Odds

Gilberto Ramirez -4000

Gabriel Rosado +1100

We are very unlikely to see an upset per the boxing betting odds in this fight as the only reason Gabriel Rosado is fighting someone as talented as Gilberto Ramirez is because the two are former sparring partners with a cordial history. You would need to bet $4,000 on Ramirez to win $100 at this price, while a $100 bet on Rosado would return $1,100 in profit if he were to somehow be the victor.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Gilberto Ramirez vs Gabriel Rosado Preview

This is largely a tune-up fight for Gilberto Ramirez after suffering the first defeat of his professional career in November. Ramirez took on Dmitry Bivol in Abu Dhabi with the WBA light heavyweight title on the line, but he was outclassed and lost by unanimous decision. It was a difficult defeat for Ramirez to swallow since he had been so dominant at super middleweight, yet that hasn’t deterred him from remaining at light heavyweight.

Unlike most fights, there hasn’t even been an attempt to portray this fight as some kind of feud with bad blood between the fighters. Gilberto Ramirez even stated of his former sparring partner: “I know Gabriel well; he is a great fighter and a great friend. We are friends inside and outside the ring and have been sparring partners. That is why this fight is dangerous; we both know each other very well. I know his weaknesses, and he knows mine. So I have to be on my toes, be better on fight night, and be ready to stop him. At the end of the day, this fight is all business; it’s not personal.”

Instead, it’s clear that Ramirez is already looking ahead to his next big fight. He put his loss against Bivol in context and highlighted what’s next for him by saying: “I learned a lot from my first career loss against Bivol. He is a great fighter; I don’t take anything away from him. He had a good night, and I didn’t…But, we will take care of business on March 18 and start thinking about my career’s next steps afterward.”

Gabriel Rosado has challenged for the middleweight title twice in his career. Rosado was 21-5 at the apex of his career, and he ended up challenging Gennady Golovkin for the IBO and WBA middleweight titles after knocking out five of six quality opponents. Rosado was no match for Golovkin though, falling in the seventh round, and that kicked off a downturn where he lost five straight fights. To be fair, all of those opponents have been title holders at some point as he lost to Golovkin, J’Leon Love, Peter Quillin, Jermell Charlo, and David Lemieux.

Rosado has only won five of his last 18 fights. He is a likeable boxer, and that leads to fights against quality opponents, but he has almost no chance of beating Ramirez. The favorite has a 3.5-inch reach advantage, and that’s huge in any fight.
