Chris Colbert vs Tugstsogt Nyambayar Boxing Betting

Unbeaten featherweight champion Chris Colbert will defend his WBA interim super featherweight belt on July 4th weekend. Colbert (15-0 with six knockouts) was originally slated to take on perpetual title contender Yuriorkis Gamboa over the holiday. Unfortunately, Gamboa had to bow out of the matchup just 10 days before the fight due to an injury suffered in training camp. Enter Tugstsogt Nyambayar. Nyambayar (12-1 with nine knockouts) has been itching for another title fight ever since losing to Gary Russell Jr. last February. His camp quickly came to terms with Colbert’s crew for the promotion to continue, and Nyambayar is out to prove himself.

This will be a Showtime promotion. The event is set to start at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from the home of the Los Angeles Galaxy just south of downtown LA.

There have yet to be any boxing betting odds released for this fight since Nyambayar is a new opponent. Colbert is expected to be favored though. If you are new to betting on boxing, let’s assume that Colbert is a -400 favorite. At that price, you would have to wager $400 on Colbert to win $100. Conversely, if Nyambayar were to come through at odds of +270, a $100 wager on the challenger would return $270 in profit.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Chris Colbert vs Tugstsogt Nyambayar Preview

Chris “PrimeTime” Colbert has only been a professional boxer for a little over six years. However, he has done enough in that stretch to be holding a major title.

Colbert won his first two fights by TKO, but he struggled to find his power for a while at featherweight. He was convincing in his next five victories, yet he won all five of those fights by unanimous decision. That streak was snapped in April 2018 against Austin Dulay, and he showed more power the next year in a second-round TKO of Mario Briones.

A first-round knockout of Miguel Beltran Jr. to win the NABA-USA lightweight belt in September 2019 served notice that he was ready for the big time. He scored a unanimous decision win over Jezreel Corales to win the WBA interim super featherweight belt last January, and he successfully defended his belt in December. Colbert scored an 11th round TKO of Jaime Arboleda, and he wants to finish inside the distance this time too.

Tugstsogt Nyambayar has been dubbed King Tug by friends and foes alike. He was an accomplished amateur boxer, winning a silver medal at flyweight in the 2009 World Championships, and he secured the silver medal in that class at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

King Tut didn’t become a professional boxer until March 2015. He moved to Los Angeles since it was harder for him to train in his native Mongolia, and he has largely fought in the area.

Nyambayar won his first eight bouts by knockout. That led to a title fight with Claudio Marrero for the IBO featherweight belt in January 2019. King Tut secured a convincing unanimous decision to win the strap, and a little over a year later, he took on the world’s best featherweight in Gary Russell Jr. Unfortunately, for Nyambayar, Russell proved to be too much to overcome as he lost a unanimous decision.

In his last fight, King Tut took down the previously unbeaten Cobia Breedy. Breedy was 15-0 before the bout, but he lost a split decision to Nyambayar.
