Yuniel Dorticos, also known as “The KO Doctor” is vowing to bring fireworks to Riga for his upcoming interim International Boxing Federation interim cruiserweight title fight against Andrew “Beast” Tabiti.
Last time out for Dorticos was an impressive and tough 12 round unanimous decision win over Mateusz Masternak in the World Boxing Super Series quarterfinal. A win in his fight against Tabiti would continue his redemption quest and put him in the World Boxing Super Series Final for the Ali Trophy.
“Training has been amazing.” Said Dorticos. “I have trained like never before. I respect any man who gets in a ring but Tabiti is in my way to the final and I will eliminate his at all costs.
“The fans in Riga can expect a show, I’m a prize fighter and I’m going to make sure they get their money’s wroth and more. When the KO Doctor goes into that ring it will be nothing but fireworks and excitement. I don’t come to run I come to fight.”
In fact, Dorticos has a special and personal message for Tabiti. “Tabiti be prepared because what’s coming for you is pure fire!”
Dorticos is working extra hard on preparation for this fight. The number two seed is excited about the venue of Riga and the opportunity to gain the final.
“It’s an honor and I’m extremely excited to fight in Riga,” said the second seed and former champ. “It’s a beautiful country with amazing people and culture. My game plan will be simple. Tabiti will learn why I am called the KO Doctor. A doctor can operate at any level. It can be a quick procedure or a prolonged procedure. Regardless it will be very painful for Tabiti.”
At the forefront of motivation for Dorticos is his loss to Marat Gassiev, the only defeat of his professional career. Dorticos is on the war path to make up for that setback and to get back on top.
