Scott Quigg (35-2-2, 26 knockouts)

In his last five fights Quigg is 4-1. He defeated Mario Briones by 2nd round TKO last October, lost to Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision in March of last year, won by 6th round TKO against Oleg Yefimovych in November of 2017, won by unanimous decision against Viorel Simion in April of 2017 and won by 9th round knockout against Jose Cayetano in December of 2016.

“I'm looking forward to making my return after having 16 months out the ring due to the injury I suffered early last year," said Quigg to the media, "This is a fight I'm really excited about. I'm looking forward to getting in there and taking him apart and showing that despite being out the ring for over a year and the injury, there is still a lot left in the tank.”

Jono Carroll (17-1-1, 3 knockouts)

In his last fight fights, Carroll is 3-1-1. He defeated Eleazar Valenzuela by unanimous decision last August, lost by unanimous decision to Tevin Farmer last March, fought to a draw against Guillaume Frenois in December of 2018, won by 9th round TKO against Declan Geraghty in June of 2018 and won by 3rd round TKO against Humberto de Santiago in November of 2017.

"I haven't necessarily learned anything extra about Scott Quigg since we were first due to fight, but I have learned more about myself - how much I want this life and what I'm willing to give up in order to accomplish my dreams and goals.” said Carroll to the media, "Now it's time for the next step. I know my worth as a person and as a boxer. I won't let Quigg beat me no matter what type of fight it has to be. I'm good at adapting so I will see what he's good at and then take that away from him. I’m sitting down on my shots and starting to hurt with my shots. I’m looking to bring a different aspect completely to my game and push Scott back to win the fight.”

Carroll said in the prefight press conference that he was wondering why Quigg changed trainers for this fight. “Why does Scott feel he has to change trainer?” said Carroll, “That’s a weakness in the mind and weakness in the head. Joe is a good trainer, but that’s a weakness.” Quigg had been using trainer Freddy Roach, but he has changed back to Joe Gallagher.

Boxing Picks

The first thing that hits me in this fight is the price. Why are the odds basically a pick? Quigg has far more experience, yet he is getting very little respect from the oddsmakers. That is a huge red flag for me in this fight, so I immediately lean toward Carroll, as the odds look like a trap. I also don’t know that Quigg is going to be in top fighting shape after so much time off and I don’t like the fact he is changing trainers again. I will take Carroll and also play the rounds to go under the total.

Boxing Pick: Carroll by 7th round knockout and the rounds to go under the total
