Kell Brook (38-2, 26 knockouts)

In his last seven fights, Brook has five wins and two losses. He defeated Jo Jo Dan by corner retirement in the fourth round, Frankie Gavin by TKO in the sixth round, Kevin Bizier by TKO in the second round, Sergey Rabchenko by KO in the second round, and Michael Zerafa by unanimous decision; while losing to Gennady Golovkin by TKO in the fifth round and Errol Spence Jr. by KO in the 11th round. Brook gets a knockout win 65% of the time.

Brook said this to telegraph.co.uk about his upcoming bout against DeLuca, “If I lose to DeLuca, absolutely it will be my last fight and I will walk away and retire. If I can't beat DeLuca, how can I say I want to fight the elite of the sport, rematch Errol Spence or fight Terence Crawford? There's no point and I don't have the right to call for world titles. No - I have to win. I’m so happy to be back. I can’t wait to put on a performance for my city on February 8 and I’ve had a year out. There have been some dark times. But what I’ve realized is that I love this sport. I know I have some of my biggest years left in the game. My opponent DeLuca is a strong, gutsy fighter who is always ready for war. But I’m planning on putting on a statement to show the world that I’m still a force at 154 or 147lbs.”

Brook also said this to boxingscene.com, “2020 I want to be two-time champion. I've never been as driven; I've never been as focused in my whole career as I am now, because I want to mix it with the best. If I don't have an unbelievable performance, it doesn't count on February 8, I'm not happy; it’s got to be spectacular. You've got to go away and think 'he's back better than ever.' That's what I want people to say. I've seen [DeLuca] live a few times, it is a hard fight. He's tough, he's an ex-Marine, and he’s obviously into his fitness. He's very determined. He knows this is a chance to make a name. He's going to give it his all.”

Mark DeLuca (24-1, 13 knockouts)

In his last seven fights, DeLuca has six wins and one loss. He defeated Chris Chatman by unanimous decision, Anthony Lenk by unanimous decision, Ramses Agaton by TKO in the seventh round, Jimmy Williams by unanimous decision, Brandon Brewer by unanimous decision, and he had one win and one loss against Walter Wright. DeLuca gets a knockout win 52% of the time.

Boxing Picks

Brook hasn’t fought in over a year, but there is no denying his talent and his motivation. DeLuca is a decent boxer, but if Brook has anything left this should be a win. The problem is laying a big price, which is something I simply don’t do in boxing, as the judging is unreliable. The most likely scenario has Brook winning this fight by knockout, so I will take the rounds to go under the total.

Boxing Pick: Brook by knockout and the rounds to go under the total
