James Kirkland (33-2, 29 knockouts)

In his last five fights Kirkland is 4-1. He defeated Colby Coulter by 1st round TKO in August of last year, lost by 3rd round knockout to Canelo Alvarez in May of 2015, won by 6th round knockout against Glen Tapia in December of 2013, won by disqualification against Carlos Molina in March of 2012 and won by 6th round TKO against Alfredo Angulo in November of 2011.

Kirkland has a lot of experience and he showed last year that he can still fight at a high level, as he got two knockout wins. He has knocked out almost all of his opponents, winning by knockout 87% of the time.

"I'm very excited to make the most of this opportunity," said Kirkland to the media in a recent statement, "I want to thank my whole team, Davies Entertainment, PBC and Warriors Boxing, for putting me in this position. It's truly a blessing to be back in the mix. I'm training hard and perfecting my craft like always. Look for me to bring fireworks on March 14."

Marcos Hernandez (14-3-1, 3 knockouts)

In his last fight fights, Hernandez is 3-2. He is coming off a loss to Kevin Newman by unanimous decision in November of last year. He won an unanimous decision against Francisco Javier Castro in July of last year, lost by TKO to Jeison Rosario in February of last year, won a unanimous decision against Quatavious Cash in November of 2018 and won a split decision against Daniel Valdivia in May of 2018.

"It's a dream come true to be in a fight like this against a dangerous man like James Kirkland," said Hernández to the media in a statement, "Everyone knows he has tremendous punching power and can take anyone out with one punch. But my plans are to take him to school and show him what a great boxer I am. At this point in my career, I'm ready to turn the corner and show everyone I have the talent to be a world champion. Everyone watching on FS1 will see a great battle between two warriors. The fans will get their money's worth; that you can guarantee."

Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions said to the media, "James Kirkland and Marcos Hernández both bring exciting styles to the ring that are sure to give the fans an action packed main event Saturday, March 14 live on FS1 from MGM National Harbor in Maryland.”

Boxing Picks

Unless Kirkland has completely fallen off a cliff then this fight shouldn’t be close. Kirkland has far more experience, more power and he has faced better competition. The price on Kirkland is likely going to be too high to make a play so that means looking at the rounds. Kirkland has won almost all of his fights by knockout, so there is no reason to think this fight goes the distance. I will take the rounds to go under the total.
