Emmanuel Navarrete has emerged as one of the top young champions in boxing with plenty of upside. Navarrete has shown a level at dominance at the tender age of 24 that has many boxing fans and gamblers believing he will go down as one of the all-time greats. His back to back wins over former champion Isaac Dogboe are the ultimate proof of his championship bona fides. On August 17 Navarrete will defend his title belt for the second time when he faces lightly regarded challenger Francisco De Vaca. While De Vaca will be a large underdog he is respected for his punching power. But rather that is enough to overcome Navarrete remains in serious doubt.

Fight Preview
So far Navarrete has kept a low and respectful profile while voicing respect for De Vaca. While Navarrete has to know he will be the prohibitive chalk he is not acting that way. In doing so he is keeping the edge necessary to not slip up in what should be an easy win while keeping in mind much bigger fights down the road. The native and current resident of Mexico City brings an aura of focus and commitment to keeping his title belt.
"This is a great opportunity to defend my title against an exciting fighter like De Vaca," said Navarrete, who has won 22 fights in a row since 2012. "I've worked hard to prove myself as a true champion, and I won't let anyone take that away from me. It's going to be a great night outside in Los Angeles."
De Vaca is a Mexico native fighting out of Phoenix that signed with Top Rank last August. Without question this is far and away the biggest fight of his career and the most difficult opponent that he has ever had to face.
"This is the fight of my life," De Vaca said. "I am going to show my Mexican heart and prove to the world that I belong on the world stage. I'm not going to talk any trash. I have a lot of respect for Emanuel Navarrete, but his reign will end on Aug. 17."
Navarrete made his name when he defeated Isaac Dogboe for the World Boxing Organization world super bantamweight title and then immediately beat Dogboe again in a rematch six months later. In the original fight held on December 8, 2018 at the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York City, New York, Navarrete scored a 12 round unanimous decision win. In the rematch on May 11, 2019 Navarrete prevailed in a 12 round technical knockout in which Dogboe went down in both the sixth and 12th rounds before his corner threw in the towel.
Boxing Betting Tips
This is Navarrete’s fight to lose. Perhaps De Vaca will show better than expected but he is, without question, up against it in this one. Navarrete should dispatch of De Vaca in short order.
