Joshua said this to telegraph.co.uk about his upcoming bout against Ruiz Jr., “It’s about how you come back. I have a different challenge in my head. When you’ve walked the road once, you can do it again. I am looking at myself in the mirror and saying I know I’m better than that [losing last time round]. Andy is still the same person. He will come game and I’ve got to change some of my bits and bob.”

Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-1, 22 knockouts)

In his last five fights, Ruiz Jr. has four wins and one loss. He defeated Devin Vargas by KO in the first round, Kevin Johnson by unanimous decision, Alexander Dimitrenko by corner retirement in the fifth round, and Anthony Joshua by TKO in the seventh round; while losing to Joseph Parker by majority decision. Ruiz Jr. gets a knockout win 64.71% of the time.

Ruiz Jr. said this to boxing247.com about his upcoming bout against Joshua, Right now, we are meditating, we are preparing, and we are getting sharper in the ring and training as well. We are visualizing the fight and becoming victorious. To all my fans please come and support me, it’s going to be a huge fight; it’s the Clash On The Dunes. We are two big guys fighting each other looking to be the Heavyweight Champion of the World. He’s trying to take my belts away so I’m going to do everything that’s possible to win and I’m going to do it for all my people. They can expect to see someone who is not giving up and doing everything possible to win, God willing we are going to take this victory.”

Ruiz Jr. said this to telegraph.co.uk, “I’m confident about the rematch, but I don’t underestimate any fighter. I know AJ’s going to come stronger and more focused but inside the gym, like Mike Tyson say; everyone has a plan until they get hit. I’m sure everybody was trying to look for an excuse and reason why he didn’t perform and why he lost. I think it was down to the style. Styles make fights and I’ve been calling AJ out for a while. I knew his style was perfect for me and that’s why I plan to do the same thing.”

Boxing Picks

This is a huge revenge fight for Joshua, and the odds definitely indicate as much, with Joshua favored by more than 2-1. I think Joshua is the better overall fighter, but I am leery about laying a price. I think the rounds option is the better way to go, as these two didn’t make it much past the seventh round in their first fight and I don’t see this one going eight rounds this time around. Joshua has excellent power and I expect him to get the knockout this time around.

Boxing Pick: Anthony Joshua by knockout in the fifth round and the rounds to go under the total
