2014 Olympics Figure Skating Betting Odds2014 Winter Olympics odds: Few moments and events on the planet bring together the entire world like the Winter Olympics do, and this year's competitions on the Olympics lines in Sochi will be no exception. Join us at BookMaker Sportsbook, as we break down some of the most notable sporting events of the 2014 Olympiad, including Figure Skating.

You probably know figuring skating quite well. It's the sport where either a man, a woman, or a couple perform to a song ( or a compilation of songs ) and put on a routine on the ice. The terms you probably know well - triple axels, spins, lifts, and jumps are all commonplace, and the more dangerous, more interesting, and all and all more entertaining the moves, the better the judges score the event.

And alas, that brings us to the problems with the Olympics betting lines with figure skating. This is the one sport that isn't judged on a clock or by some sort of other objective scoring system. Instead, this is a completely subjective sport, and a group of nine judges from all over the world get together to adjudicate the event. One man's nine might be another man's 10, which to a third might only be an eight. So no, just by watching the event, you probably aren't going to figure out if the routine is a winner or a loser until all of the numbers come out.

This is the first time that there has ever been Team Figure Skating to bet on the Olympics gambling lines. Teams will consist of a man, a woman, a couple, and a couple doing an ice dancing routine, and there are 10 countries which will be represented in the event. Because of this event, the figure skating portion of the Olympics actually starts the day before the opening ceremonies, which happens every time the Olympic Games kick off both in the Winter and the Summer Olympics.

Team figure skating takes place over the course of the first three days of the Olympics, concluding with the medal presentation on Sunday, February 9th. The rest of the time in the Olympics are cut into days of twos, as figure skating is always broken down into two shows. The first show is known as the short program, which consists of right around a three-minute routine in which the tricks are generally very bold. That's followed by the free skating, which is generally more of a full-blown show and is a longer event.

On February 11th and 12th, pairs will be competing. The men will take to the stage on Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th, which is followed by ice dancing on Sunday, February 16th and Monday, February 17th. On Thursday, February 20th and Friday February 21st, the ladies head to the ice to determine their winners.

The medal distribution in the 2010 Winter Olympics was rather split. No country won more than one gold medal in the four events, and no nation won more than a total of two medals, which made the Olympics wagering lines interesting to handicap. This is normally known as a Chinese event, though the only medals which the Chinese collected in Vancouver in 2010 were in pairs skating, taking both the gold and the silver medals for their efforts.
