2014 Olympics Bobsleigh Betting Odds2014 Winter Olympics odds: Olympics betting action is about set to get started at BookMaker Sportsbook. There isn't an aspect of the 2014 Winter Olympics which we aren't breaking down, and that includes each of the disciplines of the Olympics. Today, we'll look at one of the most important sports of the Olympic Games, the bobsleigh.

The bobsleigh, also known as bobsledding, is always one of the more interesting and entertaining of the sports in the Winter Olympics. The general principals of bobsleigh is that teams go down sleds which are essentially powered by gravity. The sport involved in the whole thing is the ability to get down the track as fast as possible, meaning taking turns tightly. There are plenty of those turns to go around, and the sport is almost a bit like NASCAR from that perspective, though you're only racing against a clock and the times which other teams put up, not actual other bobsledders on the same track at the same time. The track, in actuality, is quite narrow, and it is difficult to make successful Olympics betting picks on this sport as a result.

That said, one of the tips to remember is to pick the bobsleigh teams which are from the most organized countries. It's difficult for third world countries and other minor nations to ultimately put the money into evolving the technology aerodynamically to keep up with the rest of the nations who take this sport very seriously. Not surprising, all-time in this event, the only countries to claim medals of any kind in the bobsleigh are Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Italy, Austria, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium, Russia ( and the Soviet Union ), France, and Romania ( who has just one bronze medal all-time ).

This is only the fourth time in the history of bobsledding at the Olympics in which there are female teams. Unlike the men's bobsledding, which has teams of both two and of four running in separate events, the women only have two-woman bobsleigh as an event. Lolo Jones, a track and field athlete for the American in the Summer Olympics, is attempting to run for the US bobsled team in these Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The bobsleigh is actually the last of the events on the Olympics betting lines to get started at these Games. Qualifying for the two-man bobsleigh starts on Sunday, February 16th, and the medals in that event will be handed out the next day on Monday, February 17th. The women get into the action on Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas the four-man bobsleigh takes place on Saturday, February 22nd and on the final day of the Olympic Games, Sunday, February 23rd.

All of the bobsleigh events will take place at the Sliding Center Sanki, which is in the Krasnaya Polyana, the Mountain Cluster just outside of Sochi.

The Germans are the bobsledders who had the most success on the men's side of things in 2010 in Vancouver. Andre Lange and Kevin Kuske won the two-man bobsleigh, while Thomas Florschutz and Richard Adjei took silver for the Germans in the same event. Lange and Kuske led the four-man German team to a silver medal.

The Canadians took gold and silver and dominated on the Olympics betting odds on the women's side. The combination of Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse figures to be the group to beat once again.
