Viktor Troicki successfully defended his Apia International crown on Saturday after clinching a comeback victory over Grigor Dimitrov, triumphing 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7), following a slow start in Sydney. Troicki became the first repeat winner in Sydney since James Blake in 2006-07 as he prevailed in two hours and 17 minutes. Troicki was denied a match point at 6-5 in the third set tie-break, before saving one for Dimitrov at 7-6. The 29-year-old Troicki closed the match in fitting fashion, finding the outside edge of the line with a backhand passing shot on his second match point.

Svetlana Kuznetsova is the 2016 Apia International champion, as she beat Monica Puig 6-0, 6-2 with a superb performance in Sydney, Australia on Friday. Just hours after completing a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-3 semifinal victory against No.2-ranked, No.1-seeded Halep - her biggest win since defeating then-World No.1 Dinara Safina in the final of the 2009 French Open - Kuznetsova completely overpowered Puerto Rican qualifier Puig for the Sydney title, 6-0, 6-2.

Viktor Troicki proved an electrifying comeback to tennis with victory at Apia International Sydney 2015, this is his second career title.

Troicki crushed fellow qualifier Mikhail Kukushkin 6-2 6-3 in the final on Saturday night in a victory that will allow the Serb to ascend back up to the top rankings.

In the first ATP final in history featuring two qualifiers, Troicki dispatched Kukushkin in 64 minutes after breaking the Kazakh twice in each set.

Kvitova crowned champion at Apia International Sydney

The reigning Wimbledon champion outclassed her fast-rising compatriot 7-6(5) 7-6(6) in the first all-Czech final at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre.

Kvitova quelled Pliskova’s tenacious challenge in one hour and 52 minutes to secure her 15th career title.

Underlining her superiority over her compatriots, Kvitova’s win was her 15th in a row against Czech opponents.
