2014 Ollie's Bargain Outlet 250 Winner - Paul Menard wins Nationwide Series race at Michigan

Paul Menard won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the No. 33 Menards/Nibco Chevrolet Camaro, Menard led 18 of 125 laps claiming the win in the Ollie's Bargain Outlet 250.

Menard crossed the start finish line ahead of Sam Hornish Jr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win at the 2-mile oval located in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, MI. It was the first start of the season in the Nationwide Series for Menard and was his second win of the year.

Kyle Busch began the race on the pole but Kyle Larson spent much of the day out front. With four laps to go Joey Logano was the race leader but he suffered a flat right rear ceding the lead to Paul Menard.

2013 Alliance Truck Parts 250 Winner - Regan Smith holds off Kyle Larson for win

Regan Smith wasn't just racing upstart Kyle Larson for the win Saturday but also the rain.

He ended up beating both.

Smith held off Larson to win the Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway, his second win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season.

While Smith and his No. 7 JR Motorsports team were still celebrating in Victory Lane, rain – which had threatened most of the afternoon – finally began to fall at the track.

By that time, no one seemed to care.

Jason Leffler, who spent much of his NASCAR career in the Nationwide Series, was killed Wednesday night in a winged sprint car race at a dirt track in New Jersey. He is survived by his 5-year-old son, Charlie.

Parker Kligerman was leading late in the race but was on a different fuel strategy and was forced to pit on Lap 112 of 125, turning the lead over to Smith.

Although Larson closed in several times, he was not able to make a pass on Smith for the lead.

2012 Alliance Truck Prts 250 Winner - Joey Logano wins Alliance Truck Parts 250

Joey Logano followed up his Sprint Cup victory at Pocono last weekend with a win on the Nationwide Series on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

Logano held off James Buescher for his fifth Nationwide win of the year and 14th of his career. He has won four of the last five races in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Kurt Busch, back from a one-week suspension, finished third.

There was a red flag with seven laps to go after an accident involving Josh Richards and Jamie Dick. Flames shot briefly out of Dick's car, but both drivers were evaluated and released after the crash.

Buescher tried to pass Logano on the inside in the final seconds but wasn't able to.

2011 Alliance Truck Parts 250 Winner - Carl Edwards Takes Checkered Flag In Nationwide Race At Michigan Speedway

Carl Edwards led five times for 62 laps in the Alliance Truck Parts 250 Nationwide race on Saturday at Michigan Speedway, but he still had to battle it out at the end with his Roush-Fenway teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr before capturing the victory, his 33rd career win in the Nationwide Series.

Stenhouse pased Edwards with 21 laps to go, but the Columbia, Mo., native regained the lead on lap 117 of 125 and held on to the checkered flag. It was Edwards' fourth Nationwide win this season.

Despite finishing second, Stenhouse moved into first in the Nationwide points standings, eight points better than Elliott Sadler, who came in eighth Saturday at Michigan. Kyle Busch nipped Paul Menard, who started on the pole in the Aliance Truck Parts 250, for third and Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne was fifth.
