2013 Kentucky 300 Winner - Ryan Blaney wins Kentucky 300

There is no shortage of people interested in taking the Penske Racing-owned No. 22 for a spin in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Ryan Blaney became the fourth driver this season to lead the No. 22 team to victory lane by winning the Kentucky 300 on Saturday at Kentucky Speedway.

It was anything but a leisurely drive. The 19-year-old held off a pack of challengers on four restarts over the final 28 laps to score his first career Nationwide victory in just his 15th start in the series.

The final restart came with nine laps to go. Austin Dillon lined up on Blaney's inside but was unable to slip his No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet into the lead.

He finished 2.017 seconds back in second place.

The victory eluded him but Dillon picked up ground on Sam Hornish Jr., who finished fourth in the No. 12 Penske Racing Ford. Hornish's lead is 15 points with six races remaining.

2012 Kentucky 300 Winner - Austin Dillon wins inaugural Kentucky 300

Back in June, Austin Dillon came to Kentucky Speedway as a NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie looking for his first victory.

By Saturday evening, when he stepped off the interview platform, planted a big kiss on the cheek of his grandfather, team owner Richard Childress, and stepped out into the cool September evening, he was a two-time winner here and part of the series-championship conversation.

For the second time this season, Dillon won a Nationwide Series race from the pole in Sparta, claiming Saturday's Inaugural Kentucky 300 by 1.059 seconds over Sam Hornish Jr. The 22-year-old Dillon also won the Nationwide Series Feed the Children 300 from the pole here in June, a race he led for 192 of 200 laps.

In the No. 3 Chevrolet, Dillon fought off challenges from the two drivers ahead of him in the points standings, RCR teammate Elliott Sadler and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and took advantage of their misfortunes to ride to Victory Lane. Dillon, who led 65 laps in all, moved in front for good on lap 151 after a series of green-flag pit stops among leaders.

With six races left, including the finale Nov. 17 in Homestead, Fla., Dillon, who won the Camping World Truck Series title last season, closed to within 19 points of new points leader Sadler and within 15 of Stenhouse. No rookie driver has ever won the Nationwide Series title, and nobody has won Truck and Nationwide Series titles in back-to-back seasons. Only four Nationwide rookies have finished a season second or third.
