2014 John R. Elliott Hero Campaign 300 Winner - Elliott Sadler takes over Nationwide points lead

Regan Smith‘s star-crossed history at Kentucky Speedway continued last night, and that’s helped Elliott Sadler take over the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship lead.

With 31 laps to go in last night’s John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300, Smith was jockeying for position with Kyle Larson and Ryan Reed. As they made their way down the backstretch, Reed made contact with Smith from behind and sent the latter’s car into the outside wall.

Smith then slid into the inside retaining wall for additional damage to the car. The incident relegated him to a 28th place finish, yet another in a string of bad results for him on the 1.5-mile oval.

While Smith limped home, Sadler was able to pull out a 10th-place finish that was enough to put him atop the NNS standings by four points over Chase Elliott, who finished in 12th. Smith is third in the standings now at eight points behind Sadler.

2013 Feed the Children 300 Winner - Keselowski wins rain-shortened Nationwide race

Winless in 16 Sprint Cup races this year, Brad Keselowski was hopeful that a return to Kentucky Speedway would provide a spark to his season. With a little help from Mother Nature, he got it Friday night.

Keselowski led 59 laps, including the final 15, to win the Nationwide Series Feed The Children 300 and carry some momentum into Saturday's Quaker State 400 Cup race. Friday's race was halted after 170 laps because of a light rain.

Elliott Sadler finished second, followed by Matt Crafton, Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch.

Keselowski won for the third time at Kentucky Speedway, having captured the Nationwide race in 2011 and last year's Quaker State 400 on his way to the Sprint Cup championship.

He has struggled in 2013, with just one top-10 finish in his past eight Sprint Cup races, but picked up his 22nd career Nationwide victory Friday.

2012 Feed the Children 300 Winner - Austin Dillon dominates Nationwide at Kentucky Speedway

In a race that has provided some drama in recent years, Austin Dillon pretty much took all the excitement out of the Feed The Children 300.

The 22-year-old utterly dominated Friday's Nationwide Series race, leading all but eight of the 200 laps and cruising to a 9.828-second victory over Kurt Busch.

This marks the fourth time in 12 Nationwide Series races here that a driver has recorded his first win. Dillon joins David Gilliland (2006), Stephen Leicht ('07) and Joey Logano ('08) in accomplishing that feat. He is also the third first-time winner in the Series this season.

Driving the black No. 3 Chevrolet that his grandfather and car owner Richard Childress originally ran and was later put into revered status by the late Dale Earnhardt, Dillon put on a performance that was Earnhardt-esque. Only eight cars were on the lead lap when Dillon took the checkered flag.

2011 Winner

Brad Keselowski is the winner of this Feed the Children 300 Race. The race came down to fuel mileage, but he was able to save enough to make it to the end. This was Keselowski's first series win of the 2011 season. He was able to dominate the Speedway and kept Kevin Harvick 1.18 seconds behind him.
