2014 Aaron's 312 Winner - Sadler pulls off win at Talladega

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Elliott Sadler, who started on the outside pole, held off the masses in the final laps of the Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, his first win of the season and first at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. Chris Buescher finished second, followed by Regan Smith in third.

Sadler, in the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota Camry, led nine times for a race-high 40 laps and moved into second-place in the points standings, one point behind Chase Elliott and two points ahead of Smith.

2013 Aaron's 312 Winner - Smith holds on to win crash-filled race

Regan Smith was declared the winner of a crash-filled Aaron's 312 Nationwide race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Kasey Kahne appeared to hold off Smith and Joey Logano, but a review by NASCAR of when a caution was thrown on the last lap gave Smith the victory and Logano second place.

Several cars behind the leaders were caught up in a crash, and with darkness falling, NASCAR had warned the field that would be the only attempt at a green-white-checkered finish.

A wreck by Joey Coulter with seven laps to go caused the green-white-checkered restart.

The race was shortened by 10 laps to 107, due to darkening conditions and the absence of lights at Talladega.

2012 Aaron's 312 Winner - Joey Logano wins Aaron's 312

While Joey Logano is accustomed to being involved in close, exciting finishes at Talladega Superspeedway, he is not used to actually winning at the track. Until Saturday, that is, when he made a last-second pass of Kyle Busch to win the Aaron's 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Logano stayed tight on Busch's bumper throughout the final two laps of a green-white-checkered finish. Then when it became obvious that the trailing combo of Cole Whitt and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was going to be unable to attempt a pass, Logano whipped around Busch on the high side as they came through the tri-oval and nipped Busch at the finish line by 0.034 of a second.

Stenhouse managed a late pass of Whitt to claim third place and grab the Nationwide points lead away from Elliott Sadler, who finished 10th. Whitt was fourth followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in fifth, Kurt Busch sixth, James Buescher seventh, Justin Allgaier eighth and Kenny Wallace ninth. Danica Patrick finished 13th in her first race at Talladega Superspeedway.

The victory was especially satisfying for Logano, given his history at Talladega Superspeedway. He had finished second or third five times in 11 career starts at the track: three in the Nationwide Series, once in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and once in the ARCA Racing Series.

2011 Winner

In front of 67,500, Kyle Busch and his No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota won the 20th Annual Aaron's 312, his 47th victory in 209 NASCAR Nationwide Series races. This is Busch's fourth victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2011, and his first victory and fourth top-10 finish in eight races at Talladega Superspeedway.

Finishing second, Joey Logano and his No. 20 GameStop / Mortal Kombat Toyota posted his third top-10 finish in three races at Talladega Superspeedway. It is his fifth top-10 finish in 2011.

Grabbing third, Joe Nemechek and his No. 87 ExtenZe Toyota posted his eighth top-10 finish in 17 races at Talladega Superspeedway.

Brad Keselowski and his No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge was fourth followed by Elliott Sadler and his No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet.

Timmy Hill (14th) was the highest finishing rookie.

Jason Leffler leads the NASCAR Nationwide point standings by 2 points over Justin Allgaier.
