Camping World 500 Betting Lines NASCAR Betting Online: Phoenix International Raceway isn't the shortest of short tracks in the world, especially knowing that it's a 1-mile tri-oval that runs a little more like a long track than a short one. That said, this early in the NASCAR season, the Camping World 500 can end up being relatively unpredictable, especially since drivers haven't had to deal with a track shorter than 1.5 miles to this point of the season.

2018 Camping World 500 At a Glance

Racetrack: Phoenix International Raceway, Avondale, AZ

Track Length: 1 mile

Total Laps: 312

It's a bit ironic and interesting that the success of racing in Las Vegas is what helped to bring NASCAR to Phoenix. The desert was a largely untapped market, but there are some great racing fans out in Arizona that love to flock to the Camping World 500. The race is only 12 seasons old, and we've largely seen just a few different teams manage to dominate all of the action here.

Part of what makes the Camping World 500 so interesting is the fact that tires really get worn here in a hurry with all of the turns that have to be navigated. As a result, it's really just as much the pit crew that can make or break a team here instead of just the driver. Pit strategy is often different for all of the teams, especially if there aren’t a ton of well-placed cautions, and green flag stops make for make-or-break results.

List of Camping World 500 Winners

Year Winner Team Manufacturer
2016 Kevin Harvick Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet
2015 Kevin Harvick Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet
2014 Kevin Harvick Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet
2013 Carl Edwards Roush Fenway Racing Ford
2012 Denny Hamlin Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota
2011 Jeff Gordon Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
2010 Ryan Newman Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet
2009 Mark Martin Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
2008 Jimmie Johnson Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
2007 Jeff Gordon Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
2006 Kevin Harvick Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet
2005 Kurt Busch Roush Racing Ford

It apparently doesn't matter which team Kevin Harvick is a part of; he's got a great chance to win the Camping World 500 if he's on the track. He won his first race here in Phoenix as a member of Richard Childress Racing, but since that point, he's now won three times as a member of Stewart-Haas Racing.

That said, we've got a few somewhat surprising winners in the history of the Camping World 500. Hendrick Motorsports has had three different winners of this race. Seeing Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson in the winner's circle isn't that surprising. Seeing Mark Martin in 2009 certainly was. And just as it wasn't surprising to see Harvick win in Phoenix, the first racer to ever win here for Stewart-Haas Racing was Ryan Newman in 2010.

Most Career Wins (By Driver) at Camping World 500

Wins Driver Years
4 Kevin Harvick 2006, 2014, 2015, 2016
2 Jeff Gordon 2007, 2011

In the 12-year history of the Camping World 500, there have only been two multi-time winners. Without a shadow of a doubt, Kevin Harvick has been the best driver here in Phoenix, winning four times, including three straight seasons. The only other multiple time winner of the Camping World 500 was the great Jeff Gordon, who won in 2007 and 2011.

Most Career Wins (By Team) at Camping World 500

Wins NASCAR Team Years Won
4 Hendrick Motorsports 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011
4 Stewart-Haas Racing 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016
2 Roush Fenway Racing 2005, 2013

Exactly one-third of the all-time wins at the Camping World 500 belong to both Hendrick Motorsports and Stewart-Haas Racing. These two teams have not surprisingly been dominant, but do you notice who isn't on this list? Joe Gibbs Racing has just one win all-time at the Camping World 500, and that came back in 2012 with Denny Hamlin.

Hendrick was the first dominant team at the Camping World 500, but thanks to three straight wins for Kevin Harvick, Stewart-Haas Racing has quickly closed the gap with four wins in this race.

Most Career Wins (By Manufacturer) at Camping World 500

Wins Manufacturer Last Win
9 Chevrolet 2016
2 Ford 2013
1 Toyota 2012

It's all about Chevy. Chevrolet has been the top manufacturer at so many of the big races in NASCAR, and not surprisingly, it has nine of the 12 all-time wins in the Camping World 500. Ford and Toyota have only accounted for three of the 12 victories, and Chevy has picked up the win in the Camping World 500 in three straight years.

How to bet on Nascar Camping World 500

The odds of a driver to win the Camping World 500 will generally look something like:

  • Jeff Gordon + 200
  • Mark Martin + 250
  • Jeff Burton + 300
  • Bill Elliott + 700
  • Robby Gordon + 700
  • Field + 500

These betting odds will be lower when betting on a driver to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.

A player would have to bet $10 to win $20 that Jeff Gordon will win the Camping World 500, while the bettor wagering on Bill Elliott stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.

Another commonly placed bet in NASCAR is head-to-head finish between two drivers. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the driver finishes in, as long as the driver finishes higher than the other driver.

A head-to-head betting line for the Camping World 500 will look something like:

  • Mark Martin - 130 Jeff Burton + 110

In this bet, players wagering on Martin to finish higher than Burton will be asked to risk $13 to win $10, while bettors believing that Burton will finish higher than Martin will bet $10 to win $11.

Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to NASCAR wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of NASCAR betting without too much hassle.
