NASCAR Betting Odds: Richmond International Raceway is a fun little asphalt track. It's another one of the short tracks in the start of the season swing, and it's going to once again be a track that produces a great show at the Toyota Owners 400. This is one of the oldest races on the NASCAR docket, and for the top drivers in the world, it's a big race with a big prize at the end of it in the form of what will almost certainly be a spot in the Chase for the Championship.
Catch all of the high-speed thrills and chills of the 2018 Toyota Owners 400 on Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. ET live on FOX.
2018 Toyota Owners 400 At a Glance
Racetrack: Richmond International Raceway, Richmond, VA
Track Length: 0.75 miles
Total Laps: 400
Outside of 1954 and 1958, the Toyota Owners 400 has been run every single season in NASCAR's history. As a result, this is one of the old school races with a lot of old timers who have won at Richmond, including not just Richard Petty, but Lee Petty, the inaugural winner of the race back in 1953 as well. The average speed that day? 45.535 MPH. The average speed of the Toyota Owners 400 in the record-setting year of 2012? 105.202 MPH. Just a slight difference, shall we say.
Though this isn't the same type of short track as we have at Bristol, often times, the drivers who do well at Bristol and particularly Martinsville end up with good days at the Toyota Owners 400 as well. Then again, Richmond is a little more spread out with a little less in the way of banking in the turns in relation to the other short tracks, and that makes this a different beast unto itself.

The Busch brothers have been really, really good at the Toyota Owners 400 over the years, and the longest stretch of time that these brothers have gone without winning this race is just three years since 2009, and they've won five editions of the race in that span. Clearly, Kyle Busch, in particular will be favored to win the 2017 edition of this race, as he's got four wins in that span. We know we're going to have a new winner of the Toyota Owners 400 after Carl Edwards decided to retire at the end of the 2016 season.

They call him "The King" for a reason. There are plenty of tracks and races in which he has the record for career victories. The Toyota Owners 400 isn't an exception. He's got six career wins in this race, one that no one else has won more than four times. David Pearson had a tremendous dominant period in there as well during the time of Petty with wins in 1964, 1966, 1968 and 1969, and in fact, these two men combined to win 10 editions of the Toyota Owners 400 from 1961 through 1975.
Kyle Busch has won the Toyota Owners 400 four times, and he did so in succession from 2009 through 2012 in the best run in the history of this race.
Next in line are the Earnhardt boys. Sure, Dale Jr. and Dale Sr. have only combined to win just as many races at the Toyota Owners 400 as Petty, but each has three wins, and only three other men can say that.

For such a long time in the history of the Toyota Owners 400, there was Petty Enterprises and everyone else. The Petty crew won this race eight times, and for the longest time, that was the record by a huge amount of wins. But Joe Gibbs Racing is catching up. From 2009 through 2016, JGR has won the Toyota Owners 400 five times, and that doesn't even include the other two victories that it had when it was using Pontiac machines and Tony Stewart was the premier driver for the team. Now, Joe Gibbs Racing is just one win away from reaching the mountain that was initially scaled by Petty Enterprises, and no one else is particularly close. Hendrick Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing would be next in line amongst the active teams with five all-time wins at the Toyota Owners 400.

Thunderbird? The number of races that the old T-Bird won back in the day was incredibly minimal. But the T-Bird has found its way to Victory Lane in the past at the Toyota Owners 400, winning the race in 1959 with Tom Pistone at the wheel. But when you look at the top of the charts in terms of what manufacturer has won the most editions of the Toyota Owners 400, there aren't any surprises. Chevy tops the list at 21 wins all-time, but a lot of that is because Toyota has been dominating of late. Sure, Toyota machines only have five wins historically, but this is the manufacturer to watch going forward since it has all five of its wins in the last eight years.
How to bet on Nascar Toyota Owners 400
The odds of a driver to win the Toyota Owners 400 will generally look something like:
- Jeff Gordon + 200
- Mark Martin + 250
- Jeff Burton + 300
- Bill Elliott + 700
- Robby Gordon + 700
- Field + 500
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a driver to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $20 that Jeff Gordon will win the Toyota Owners 400, while the bettor wagering on Bill Elliott stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in NASCAR is head-to-head finish between two drivers. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the driver finishes in, as long as the driver finishes higher than the other driver.
A head-to-head betting line for the Toyota Owners 400 will look something like:
- Mark Martin - 130 Jeff Burton + 110
In this bet, players wagering on Martin to finish higher than Burton will be asked to risk $13 to win $10, while bettors believing that Burton will finish higher than Martin will bet $10 to win $11.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to NASCAR wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of NASCAR betting without too much hassle.
