He is twelve years younger and three inches taller than Mendes.
Augusto Mendes come to Minnesota with a record of 5-0. He has four submission victories and one knockout win. The 32-year-old defeated Donald Williams in a second-round submission in his last appearance in the octagon on July 17th. He also beat Evan Martinez last year, winning that one by technical knockout on February 13th. The Brazilian turned pro in April of 2014 and finished that year with four straight wins.
The co-main event will featuring welterweights Brock Larson and Travis Coyle. Larson has a record of 41-10 coming into this bout. He has won the majority — 27 in all — of his bouts by submission. The 38-year-old will be eager to get back in the winning column after falling to Derrick Krantz in his most recent fight on July 17th. Larson has gone 2-2 in his last four fights with his most recent win coming on May 2nd against Kyle Olsen. The Minnesota native turned pro in 2002 and won his first 15 bouts of his career before his first loss in 2005. Coyle is 12-7 so far in his career, winning 11 bouts by submission and one by decision. Coyle will also be looking to rebound in Minnesota after going 0-2 in his last couple outings.
In his most recent bout on June 6th, Coyle fell to Isaac Vallie-Flagg in the first round by submission. He also lost to Josh Neer in his fight before that on August 2nd, 2014. The Colorado-born fighter’s last win came in June 2013 when he defeated Ryan Braun in a first-round submission.
Also on the fight card at Legacy FC 51 is Antonio Troccoli vs Jacob Volkmann and Kuchlong Kuchlong vs Nate Richardson. There are 11 matches in all taking place in Minnesota in MMA betting.
