Villaseca subsequently suffered the first and only loss of his career to date, falling to Bobby Cooper by split decision at Bellator 139 earlier this year. Villaseca was able to bounce back in his most recent fight on September 19th, 2015, defeating Marcos Cornejo via first-round submission. Villaseca is 0-1 in his lone Bellator fight but will aim to even that record in this showdown with Thomson.
Another main bout at Bellator 147 features Daniel Weichel against Georgi Karakhanyan. Weichel has an overall record of 34-9 while Karakhanyan is 24-4-1. Karakhanyan has won 10 of his past 11 fights and could be favored to add another to that total. Weichel is a submission specialist who lost his last time out to Patricio Freire but previously had reeled off seven consecutive victories.
There are 12 fights scheduled in total for Bellator 147. Others include Patricky Freire taking on Derek Anderson; a matchup between Virgil Zwicker and Brian Rogers; Mario Soto going up against Adam Piccolotti; Mauricio Alonso versus James Terry as well as A.J. McKee in a showdown with John Donaldson.
