Burns will face off against Michele di Rocco with the WBA light welterweight belt on the line on May 28th, 2016, at SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Burns has lost five times in his career but has more experience so he may be favored to come away with the title in boxing wagering.

Ricky Burns has a career record of 39-5-1 with 13 wins by knockout. He lost two title fights early in his career before breaking through for the commonwealth super featherweight championship on September 26th, 2008 with a unanimous decision over Osumanu Akaba. Burns successfully retained it three consecutive times and then added the WBO super featherweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Roman Martinez on September 4th, 2010. Burns’ skyrocketing career kept on rolling as he retained the belt in three successive fights and then also added the interim WBO lightweight title with a unanimous decision over Michael Katsidis on November 5th, 2011. Burns defended that belt four times before finally losing it when Terence Crawford beat him in a unanimous decision on March 1st, 2014. Burns then lost again his next time out against Dejan Zlaticanin. Burns’ most recent loss came to Omar Figueroa but got back on track recently with victories over Prince Ofutsu and Josh King. The victory over King came on November 7th, 2015 and earned him the WBO inter-continental lightweight title.

Michele di Rocco is 40-1-1 as a professional with 18 wins by knockout. Di Rocco started undefeated in his first 18 fights. He faced off against Giuseppe Lauri for the EU super lightweight and vacant WBC International super lightweight championship belts but fell technical knockout on September 21st, 2007. Di Rocco bounced back after that and heads into this fight with 23 straight victories. He doesn’t have the high-end championship belts like Burns but picked up the European super lightweight title lately and has successfully defended it multiple times.

Burns was at the top of different weight classes earlier in his career and hopes to get back there at light welterweight. Di Rocco hasn’t lost in years and would love to add a top-tier title to his career highlights in boxing wagering.

Boxing Quick Pick: Burns’ experience will be the edge he needs to defeat di Rocco and capture the vacant WBA lightweight title.
