Joshua won the WBC International Heavyweight belt back in October of 2014 with a technical knockout win over Denis Bakhtov. He had defeated it twice since then, defeating Kevin Johnson by technical knockout in May and taking out Gary Cornish by technical knockout in September. Joshua captured the Commonwealth Heavyweight title with his recent win over Cornish and will be making the first defense of that belt. The current champion has a two-inch height advantage over his next challenger, Whyte. He’s boxed 25 rounds in his 14 bouts. Joshua turned pro in 2013. Before turning pro, Joshua won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, completing the super heavyweight division.
Dillian Whyte is 16-0 so far in his career and has defeated 13 opponents by knockout in that time. In his most recent appearance in the ring, Whyte defeated American boxer Brian Minto via knockout in the third round to capture the WBC International Silver Heavyweight title. Whyte has three additional wins in 2015 after starting the year win a over Marcelo Luiz Nascimento on February 7th, then defeating Beka Lobjanidze later that month on February 28th and also emerging victorious over Irineu Beato Costa Junior on August 1st. Whyte turned pro in 2011 and won his first nine fights handily, but tested positive for the banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine after his technical knockout victory over Sandor Balogh in October 2010 and hit with a two-year suspension from the sport. The 27-year-old made his return to boxing in October 2014 and has been just as dominate since, defeating seven opponents since then. All seven wins have come by knockout. Whyte has boxed 44 rounds in 16 professional fights. This bout against Joshua will be the biggest of his career so far in boxing wagering.
