Boxing Betting Lines: If you’re looking for the best advice for boxing wagering, you’ve certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook we’re previewing the WBC heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Alexander Povetkin on May 21st, 2016, at Megasport Arena in Moscow, Russia.
Deontay Wilder will aim to continue his impressive run in the heavyweight division by retaining his belt against a formidable foe. Wilder will travel to Moscow to face off against Alexander Povetkin on May 21st, 2016, at Megasport Arena. Wilder will likely be a slight favorite although Povetkin should give him a big challenge in a fight that could go either way in boxing wagering.
Deontay Wilder has a career record of 36-0 with a very impressive 35 wins via knockout. He started making waves on the lower levels, picking up his first title with a WBC Continental Americas belt over Kelvin Price on December 15th, 2012. Wilder then retained it twice before moving up to the top level. He picked up the WBC heavyweight title by defeating Bermane Stiverne with a unanimous decision on January 17th, 2015. Wilder hasn’t been totally dominant since then but has still picked up knockout wins over Eric Molina, Johann Duhaupas and Artur Szpilka to keep his belt. Wilder is 30 years old and in the prime of his career, which should help him against a tough opponent.
Alexander Povetkin will enter this showdown as the mandatory challenger with a 30-1 record and 22 knockouts. He won the first 21 fights of his career to set up a shot at the WBA heavyweight title and emerged victorious over Ruslan Chagaev. Povetkin then retained his belt against Cedric Boswell, Marco Huck, Hasim Rahman and Andrzej Wawrzyk to set up a heavyweight unification title fight against Wladimir Klitschko on October 5th, 2013. It was a titanic matchup and Povetkin fell short, losing by unanimous decision. It was a blow, but Povetkin has bounced back well of late, defeating Manuel Charr, Carlos Takam, Mike Perez and Mariusz Wach in his most recent fights. Povetkin has picked up a lower-level championship belt since the loss to Klitschko but now hopes to become a legitimate big-time heavyweight fighter by defeating Wilder. It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility as Povetkin has a great resume throughout his long career in boxing wagering.
Boxing Quick Pick: Wilder has been a force ever since entering the ring and will come through as the favorite, defeating Povetkin to retain his title.
